How can I get large DOF?

I am doing a shoot next week, and I want some of the shots to be in focus.
How do I do this?

If I open the aperture, I get more light = low DOF
If I close the aperture, I get less light but high DOF... the problem is its Dark!

Is there a way to improve this?

I dont think he wants shallow DOF Jordan. Seems he wants Deep DOF.

Well u already said it DDirector..close down the iris. if its dark ur just going to have to add more light (or up the iso). Also depending on the shot and what u want...wide lenses are better for that.

it would be easier to answer your question if you explained what you meant by "large DOF". Do you mean shot's with shallow DOF or shots with deep focus?

Yes, lots of light so you can close down aperture, and wide angle lenses are the best way. Of course a camera with a smaller sensor is the third way.

Haha..

OK. Thanks guys.
Having a wider lens would be my best solution I guess... Don't know how much better I can do with a limited amount of lights.

That's probably the con with these large sensors. It will be hard to get larger DOF.

Read the tutorial I posted the link to. It will help you understand what you'll need to do to get the kinds of DOF you need in different situations.
