t2i/550D sdhc cards, what u gonna shoot with?

Checked the slot with another brand of SD Card, it's not the camera it's the Patriot 16GB Class 10 cards. Both of them do it, so be aware when buying that they're a little bit bigger perhaps and don't come out as smoothly.

Thanks for letting us know about this. I will add it to post 1

I also bought two Patriot 16GB Class 10 cards off of eBay for $46/ea after shipping (bing). I just got the T2i in about 30 minutes ago, and I won't get to test it extensively for a few days, but the cards didn't seem to want to pop out of the slot when I tried to eject. They record fine, and the camera recognizes them, so no problems there. But I have to press it in, and then use my fingernail to drag out the card from the slot. Is anyone else having this problem?

Apparently i had the exact same problem ....but i have a sandisk ultra 2 that got stuck ...and had to pull it out ...after a few times it got alright ...I reckon it might be the camera slot itself being a bit tight...but i might be wrong ...Has anyone else had any problems with there card being a bit stiff in there new T2i ?

Going back to the Patriot Class 10 cards. I shot for an extended period of time this weekend and spent a little bit of down time pushing in and out the cards, trying to rub down the sides of the card at the same time. Sounds dirty, I know, but after a while they started to pop out more naturally.

So looks like it might just be a problem with a poorly created casing, and if you don't mind wearing in a few grooves the cards should work eventually. I haven't seen any performance issues from the grooving either.

Per arooj's comment about the Ultra Sandisk 2, I don't think it's the T2i slot since a 4GB SD card worked fine immediately, and afterwards the Patriot still struggled until it was worn down.

I have the T2i and mainly shoot Video with it.

I have 2 16gb Kingston EDGE class6 cards that work flawlessly.

They are $44.00-$50.00. The card sticker will say HD Video Card on it when you receive it. I guess they updated the sticker.

Also the PNY Optima cards from Best Buy work Flawlessly and they are class4. $25.00
Canon recommends Class6 though so I would stay Class6 to make sure. I just bought one because my camera arrived and I sold my other cards with my other camera. But no buffering.

I have found that some class6 cards don't work through other forums/users.

I would recommend the Kingston Edge Class6 cards though. I won't buy a 32gb card because that is too much information to loose if something goes wrong.

Canon recommends class 6 over class 10? Or just a minimum recommendation of class 6?

A minimum of Class 6, Class 10 is preferred since it's held to a higher minimum speed.

Just remembered I also worked with some Adata 16GB Class 6 cards on the weekend. We shot pretty heavily through five or six cards and there was probably three or four times that the buffering warning icon came on. It only blinked on for literally a second or two, but makes me think that they're probably not quite fast enough.

You won't get a straight answer out of Canon. I talked to 3 different people and got 3 different answers. All I know is the cards I have listed work great. I have never seen a buffer out of them.

You also have to watch that some of the more inexpensive Class6 cards do buffer.
I guess Class6 isn't always Class6. Also watch out for ebay cards as they are in some cases misrepresented. I bought a transend card 32gb from ebay they said was class6 that wouldn't record for over 3sec.
I'm not saying transend cards are bad, I think someone just changed the sticker.

Basically you get what you pay for.

I have Patriot LX class 10 cards, and they have worked fine since day 1. Maybe yours were improperly manufactured?

Is it my imagination or do all the errors seem to be occurring with 16gig (or higher) capacity cards
irrespective of brand?

Again, mine are 16gb as well and its been great without a hitch, if I do encounter problems down the road, I'll let people know.

It's possible, although both of the cards did the same thing so it would have to be from the same bad batch. I've had no problems with the technical side of it though, just the card popping out of the t2i slot at first.

That auction looks sketchy as hell. Considering the location (Default, Hong Kong???) and that the seller has an iPod for $30 for sale too. I'd rather spend more money for the same card somewhere else.

The Patriot Iris 16GB have been good so far for me. They're supposedly made for video cameras and cost around $37-$40 a piece. Not a bad price. We have 12 of them.

I bought a sandisk ultra 8gb class 4 and thought I noticed some dropped frames. Ive managed to exchange it for an extreme III 8gb class 10. Maybe I was seeing things...

Was the sandisk 8gb class 4 tested here an extreme III?
