Are you going to take care of the first post and update it with new info as it comes? I have a few budget 16GB cards I can test next week.

I will do my best. Don't be afraid to PM me to remind me.

If a limited time rebate comes out then that would be something I would put in post 1
If a certain card is repeatedly crapping out on multiple cams and people should be warned I will put that in post 1

other than that I will probably leave each persons reviews and opinions in their post.

What is the video writing speed for the sandisk videohd? I think that the panasonic 16gb class 4 would be the biggest bang for your buck. 20mb/s and $45 at J&R.

Just be careful people. In my experience it is better to shoot with two 8 gig cards
rather than one 16 gig card. Reasoning is ...

1) not all your eggs in one basket so to speak
2) on set someone can use a card reader to backup one card while u shoot with the other

edit: or just shoot with two 16 gig cards I guess
but my point is don't blow your whole budget on one big card if ya-know-what-i-mean

I've used those and so has a colleague of mine. We had our skepticisms at first because of the price, but we've both had really good luck with them.

sweet, i had the same skepticism because it seemed too good to be true

are you sure those will hold 120 minutes of footage?

probably not. I was only looking at the size of 8gig. 8 gig is actually a huge chunk of data. On set I like 8 gig sized chunks in folders called Card 1, Card 2, Card 3 etc
I also backup a card twice to two separate drives before erasing it so an 8 gig card occupies 16 gig of space.

Just tested a class 4 sandisk 8gig on the t2i/550d with no problems.
My test involved shooting two 4gig clips in a row till card was full.
I was focused on coloured moving subjects (new super mario wii actually)
which I hope would keep the bitrate up. No dropped frames.

This is an older card from last summer that I used to use with a GH1 and before that with
an HF100 so that is good news for those who also have them laying around.

BTW 8gig is not 120 minutes!

anyone else testing cards let me know and I'll put the info in post 1, would love to hear about those Patriot cards.

I'm using the Lexar 5-in-1 costing fifteen smackeroos
this reader saw a lot of use last summer with my GH1
must have nailed 14-15 projects with it

tested it today with t2i and sandisk card linked above, no problems so far

Are there any firewire card readers? I don't know why, but I hate USB, yet can't seem to find a Firewire one. It's such a strange medium for recording these types of images, it seems so flimsy!

USB data rates (even real world) are faster than what most SD cards are capable of. Having a firewire reader won't help. Save your firewire ports for hard drives, not card readers.
