Superman Returns

Thought the movie was a great "new" beginning for the Superman saga. Gorgeous films and looks awesome in HD.

I think they should have gotten a different actor to play Lex Luther (not that Kevin Spacey is a poor actor by any stretch of the imagination) but he just didn't convince me of how evil he was supposed to be.

And yes - I would have liked to see Superman have a real fight. Hollywood needs to take the risk and bring the comics to life the way the fans remember them.

Cheers!

I don't know what another actor would have done with Lex Luther. Luther's part was poorly written with only a single scene to establish his evil intentions with the widow's money. Spacey did a decent job.

As for Superman Returns being a great new beginning, I have no words.

Kevin Spacey is one of the best actors out there currently.

I agree with the bad script. Cheeseball Comic book villain was how Lex Luthor's character was written, to stay in tone with the old Gene Hackman version. It didn't work, and it certainly helped to take out any serious excitement of the Superman x Luthor confrontation.

If I was to make a movie about Superman, it would be about how vulnerable the man (soul, psyche) is, and not how strong is the super. Superman's character was just super in every way...Plain boring, in fact. I liked Lois and Clark (I'm gonna get flamed for this :) ), the TV version of Superman. There was a more interesting take on the character...
