Super Cheap DIY LED Light Panel for DSLR's ($12) Extraordinarily Bright

Well I was in need of a LED panel for my Canon T2i but I didn't want to shell out 80 bucks for a decent one so instead I built one to suit my needs. I used 60 3mm LEDs and 30 33ohm resistors. It's powered by a 1800mah 7.4v battery pack but can be easily adapted to take AA, AAA or even you standard 9v battery.

Here is a brief overview of the panel,

It's my first How-To so its a bit jumpy but you get the picture. Skip to 6:53 if you just want to see footage from the camera with and without the Panel attached.

very cool, but honestly, by the time you go through all the work, it would cost me more in time than it would cost to just buy one. But this is way cool, If I were a cash strapped student, I would give it a try. Although this project does require some patience. Eitherway nice tutorial.

You might consider putting posts like this in the lighting forum. (You're in Canon small-sensor DSLRs...)
The reason I posted it in this forum was because I specifically designed it for the Canon DSLR range of cameras (and I wasn't aware there was a light forum haha). I might try posting it there though.

Thank you for the complement and in all actuality the hardest part was figuring out how I wanted to get all the wires to link and what not, from there it was quite simple, I can make 'em in about an hour and I am pretty cash strapped thats for sure.

Great little DIY. I think having a few of these laying around to shoot through scrims would be great, especially on wider scenes. I.e. a panel of 6. I couldn't tell by the video, but I assume you've achieved some sort of housing solution?

Thanks! I have a few plans for housing I just haven't ordered the parts yet.
