Super 8 is really a cool tool to use and add to your videos. It serves as really nice B-roll footage. Plus it is real film...for cheap.
There are some companies that make custom Super 8 cartridges. What they do is that they insert 35mm film into Super 8 cartridges. The quality is real awesome...real grainy but real cool.
Oliver Stone uses a lot of Super 8 in his films...you can find a lot of articles about this on the web. Typically those films need to be ranked by some developing house...but if you buy kodachrome 40 or Ektachrome VNF film from Kodak (around $12 each cartridge...less if you buy 5 or more!) you can have them processed and view them using an old old projector.
On Ebay you can find some good deals on projectors and cameras. If you do not have one a camera yet get a Canon (Canon 514xl is a good choice...a Canon 1014 is an awesome choice) . Try to get one that used to shoot sound (eventhough they don't make sound cartridges anymore) but this will give you the chance to shoot 24 frames. All the rest will leave you with only 18 frames....makes it harder to synch sound if you are doing a music video...it is possible but tricky.
That's my two cents![/quote]
Thanks!
