SUGGESTED RESOURCES (for going full western)

LOCATION SUGGESTION: For anyone in SoCal, Vegas or The Grand Canyon area... here is a really cool spot to get wide shots. You may even be able to shoot there for free or at least "creatively free" if you plan it right. I would imagine if it's a no budget student film they might allow it without insurance. It has a camp site attached and a small bunkhouse. There are also local motels. Both are cheap. It is located a few miles from Barstow.

"Calico" is a San Bernardino County Park. And most likely, if you showed up, camped, and did girlilla shooting, you'd probably get away with it. If you had a lot of actors/actresses in period dress, and with one of those fancy camera rigs... probably someone would start asking about permits.

If you go to the San Bernardino County Film Commission site, you have to have insurance, name SBC on a certificate, and have 'unemployment' insurance, etc...

It's a little late to sign up at a local junior college to see if one could use their insurance for student projects...

I've been kicked off of State Park property, doing still scenics, because the ranger didn't believe I was not a 'pro' with my 4x5 camera on a tripod...
