Stuck in Letter Box

My DVX 100 is stuck in Letter Box mode. If I select the Squeeze or Normal settings the camera will continue to record in Letter Box mode. It's been stuck this way for a few months. I'd like to use it again only in 4:3. Any input would be much appreciated.
 
Is your DVX a 100, 100A, or 100B? This can be very helpful, as menu options changed between the three generations.
 
Okay, second question: are you sure that it is recording in letterbox and not just showing letterbox in the LCD and viewfinder?

In other words, have you played any of the footage back on another device, or captured it to (and played back on) your computer?

See THIS, page 76, bottom right. Are you set to AUTO?
