FEATURE: Stricken the Feature - A Matt Sconce Film

That's one very cool shot of a very cool setup! You guys are *not* foolin' around!

 Thanks Ted! Our motto during the shoot was
"We will not Settle. If we do, this has all been for nothing."

The tower had an HVX at the top that was initiated by remote control by Troy Ruff. I positioned the top camera to the left of the actor David Fine's head so it would have him on the right in the image and would have the two actresses seen across the screen towards the left.

The wire rigging had four wires measured and cut specifically to extend to the two hanging actresses. Wires were attached with redundancy for safety. Each single wire could hold the whole hanging load, so there were two per person to factory harnesses with added dual carabiner supports.

The walls were drywall over plywood on a 4"x4" frame braced diagonally and laterally. Multiple attachments to the house structure were made from the tower making it completely solid and bulletproof.

The wall was lit with eleven 750W or better 6500K daylight fluorescents. A 25' lift with a solid camera tripod mount attached shot from the profile and then a straight on shot using the RED camera for ease of keying the greenscreen.

All dialog and close ups were shot on an identical wall built inside where temp and lighting could be better controlled.

As this was for an important part of the film Stricken we had to cut no corners in these shoots. It was challenging and fun... And it turned out great!

I couldn't agree with that approach more. In everything - starting with the storytelling and then throughout every step of the process.

But *especially* in the storytelling...

LOL! I can't wait to actually tear down the wall... (I live at 4000ft up near Yosemite National Park and have been woodcutting for winter, so the wall still stands!)

Although the lights are stored now. :2vrolijk_08:

UPDATE: Computer Parts are now being shipped! Hooray!

On a side note...Someone just made a Star wars spoof using my illusion Power Word: Fall. Pretty funny and shows cool elements of what it can do. It is always cool to find these videos.

I am hoping to be editing Stricken SOOOON! -Matt

The printed Fresno Bee story had a photo of Stephanie French nearly half of the page in size. Cool! Hey, any publicity is a good thing.

Just a correction on the article author's statement about Avenal Hospital. It is not 'abandoned', just closed to patients. The administrative staff works hard there every day in running their hospital district and keeping up with paramedic service for the entire area. And... They are such nice people.

I would hate to have them think we think of the hospital as 'abandoned'. It is still in very nice condition and could open again with only a little water run to clean out the pipes and some simple planing work on the room doors. I think it will open as a retirement home someday.

Well, the great green wall comes down tomorrow. What goes up must come down. It has been over 100 degrees here lately. Woo hoo. :)

The great green wall is down. What a knuckle buster.

I am going to go see the "Colossus" computer at Matt's house today. I have to get past Matt's security system to see it. (Automatic motion triggered machine guns, digital cameras, bombs, lasers, and evil trained attack Pekingese!)

...and loving it, as Maxwell Smart would have said...
