FEATURE: Stricken the Feature - A Matt Sconce Film

so you're stickin' with Premiere Matt?

Yep, CS4 has been my favorite editing system on a PC. I have used Vegas, Avid (I am currently editing on an Avid Nitris System at work), Adobe, and Edius. I have to say, all in all for the PC world, I think CS4 is my way to go. It lets me edit Native Red files, Mxf, etc with great export settings and the ability to bounce back and forth from the Adobe products like Soundbooth and After effects without rendering through Dynamic link. Quite spifftabulous.:cheesy:

If you want to build a system like this from the places we bought, send me your email and I will email you a parts list. -Matt

Gee - only 10 TB of total drive space? Why that would only hold, like, the combined knowledge of the entire universe several times over. What'll you do when you run out?

: )

Haha! I am excited. The order was placed today and the money will be sent out tomorrow. I should have the system in hand next week sometime and then Post begins. -Matt:beer:

Not to be a naysayer, Matt, but how does Premiere handle the interchange between non-Adobe applications? I've heard negative comments about exporting OMFs from Premiere to Pro Tools. Hopefully they've changed all that with CS4.

hey Brad,

I've worked with a couple of Premier CS4 editors and so far, OMF is alright. AAF, so-so. Safer with the OMF's.

UPDATE:
I have been logging and selected scenes from Stricken starting at the most recent and moving backwards. The more footage I see, the better I feel about everything. I am so glad we did not cut corners and made sure we never settled. The product reflects that intensity. Woohoo! Also, on a humbling note, I have received some very encouraging comments recently on the IMDB message boards for my profile about working with me as a director. Check them out: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2348076/board/threads/

Things like those comments make me feel like I am doing something right and encourage me to put one foot in front of the other and keep moving forward.:cheesy:

I am excited to see the new production computer in action. This is a big step for Aftershock Studios. We hope to take profits and build a large structure to be used as a studio. We have a parcel of property near Bass Lake California that is paid off and ready for a studio building. If we can, we want to build a 40'x60'x24' tall steel building that will be used exclusively for filming. If we get this built, others will be able to rent the facility for production. Our family owns three 2 story houses surrounding the future studio property and they would be great for housing large numbers of crew, actors, and their families. Well, that is the hope and dream.

We are really trying to pull ourselves up by our own bootstraps into a full production company. Matt is going to shift his old (awesome) computer to me so I can also learn post production and begin working with 3D modeling and rigging.

It is nice that filming is almost finished I am actually getting to clean up my yard and am hoping to start building a new hydraulic 4 wheel steer dolly. :kali:

UPDATE: I had another distributor contact me yesterday who is anxious to see a screener. I am excited for that stage. This evening, Troy and I have a meeting with a reporter to have an article about Stricken put into the Fresno Bee. Should be fun! -Matt

Urgh, this all just makes me want to get shooting!!!! I am still in pre-prod, trying to settle the million and one details...

I hear ya brother, but that stage is definitely worth taking your time in. We basically were in Pre-prod for about a year. Because of the planning, things went very smoothly. I can't wait until you start shooting so we can start seeing some good looking screen grabs! :cheesy:

Glad to hear you're pleased with the initial results from principal, Matt.

Gary, is there anything you don't do? Very impressive.

Mark, when you start your feature, will you have a thread/blog also?

It's cool to see the DVX alumni graduate and do their 1st features.

Very inspiring and GREAT work, Matt!
Wow Thanks!

The interview with Rick of the Fresno Bee went well yesterday. Hopefully and article with pictures comes out next Thursday.

Here is a full working BTS shot from the hanging wall never before seen. Enjoy!
