Strangeness in using DuelAdapter on MacBook Pro

MacBook Pro, OS 10.5.6.

DuelAdapter.

I'm having a lot of trouble getting the DuelAdapter to work reliably with my laptop. In particular, in exactly this situation, it mounts correctly:

-- I boot the machine, insert the DuelAdapter with a P2 card already in it.

At that point, the P2 card mounts correctly, and I can eject it, insert another, etc., and everything is fine.

However.

If I then remove the DuelAdapter and plug it back in, or plug it in the first time without a card in it, it does not work. The particular symptom is that the ExpressCard icon appears in the menu, but clicking on the icon doesn't pull down a menu, and System Profiler does not see an ExpressCard in the slot. At that point, the only solution I have found it to reboot and proceed as above.

Any thoughts as to what might be going on? Many thanks!

That's about average mileage for that device.

Stick with what works, and unfortunately, you have to accept it because it is squirrelly.

Go to the DualAdapter web page: http://www.duel-systemsadapters.com/?productid=DP-0001

(I don't think you need Dual's software with Mac OS 10.5 - you only need it with Mac OS 10.4)

At the bottom of that page is the following notice:

Notice to Customers Running Mac OS X: Due to a peripherals management limitation in Mac OS X, your MacBook Pro or other Apple computer must be restarted before reinserting the DuelAdapter into the ExpressCard card slot on your computer.

It's a drag for us Mac users, but I haven't found another device for P2 and the Mac - I hope this helps

Oh, doh! Thank you! With luck, they'll fix this soon...
