Star Trek

Big. It's fine if you don't care that it's different, but it IS different, especially when it's being presented as the same ship.

How can you say that? It looks almost identical... besides the angle on that picture is different... at the end of the day, I do not care... it's about the characters, not the darn ship... it looks nearly the same, and if he portrays the characters correctly, and tells an engaging story, I'm on board!

But the "darn ship," in many ways, is just as important a character as Kirk, Spock, or the rest. I guess it baffles me that he would spend as much time as he clearly did trying to find people who looked at least somewhat like the people when his FX guys were cooking up something that looks only vaguely like the ship should.

By this point, going back to the 23rd century is very much like doing a period piece -- things looked a certain way; changing them is like, say, having Rose arrive at the Titanic by helicopter.

Is it Trekkies or Trekkers..? What a debate that can cause! One of my favorite stories involves Gene Roddenberry giving a lecture at a convention, and he mentions "Trekkies". One geek in the audience shouts out "It's TrekkERs!". Roddenberry looks at him and says "I wrote the damn show, I can call them whatever I want!".

I dunno, I'm neither but I thought a trekker was a hiker? Maybe a space hiker?

Brandon, if you don't see the difference between the ships, then you're just not looking very hard. Having four wheels and a windshield doesn't make something a Corvette.

They look very similar to me... but then again most Trek ships do... I have to say my fave. ship is the Enterprise E.

Reliant. It's supposed to be a research vessel, but it's a bad-@SS military machine. The sucker's got a nearly nil forward profile, so it's very hard to hit, and from that position, it's got ten phasers and two photon tubes trained on you, with six phasers and two photon tubes to spare. Not to mention its gaping-huge shuttle bays from which it can launch who-knows-what from a completely protected position -- while defending the launch, if necessary, with those remaining six phasers and two photons.

OK, I just seriously geeked out, but it is a fine design.
