Sony's 4K camera

Due in "2 or 3 years" - boy, that gives them plenty of time to think about it.

Price? I think I overheard something about the new "baby Genesis" HD digital cinema camera for $150K camera, $200K with HDCAM SR recorder. Considering this newer/better 4K model is 2 or 3 years out, they'll have lots of time to respond to, shall we say, "market pressures" from new entrants...

haha, I think the "elephant" denial analogy best suits this situation. RED is the giant elephant in the room that is sitting on the same couch as the sony cine division execs. Even though RED takes up most of the couch, the execs are like.."I don't notice anything do you?..nope, me neither." I think that they are going to ignore it as long as they can...until it is too late..and the demand for their future 4k cinealta is almost non existent. By the time this sony 4k comes out, there will already be a RED user base in the thousands.

And most likely REDTWO will be out by then. Which could be 6K with even higher dynamic range and features.

8K at least. C'mon, think BIG! Don't want Jim and the guys getting complacent, do we :)
