FS7: Sony rumored to release new FS7

I will buy this camera after firmware 4.3 comes out that stops the camera from switching into super slow shutter speeds when you white balance in Cine Ei.

This, right there.

Sony designs good cameras... unfortunately, it requires firmware updates that aren't available until 6 months before EOL to make it a good released camera.

I don't even know if these guys are for real or not.

Updated...

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nov 4. Feel free to contact us to pre-order a unit.

PXW-FSM2K kit with new SELP18110G lens will also be available.

Just a little teaser ...

- Electronic Variable ND (FS5)
- 10 assignable buttons
- New Lens Lock Ring (Lever Lock Type) No rotation of lens anymore to detach.
- MPEG 2 Cache Recording
- BT 2020 Color Space
- New Arm Grip Position and Adjustments
- New 1/4 Full HD LCD (960/540) and rod ergonomics improvements

These guys said they saw it:

Someone has to leak something soon...photos!

If that's for real, it looks like a solid update. I know someone round here who will be very happy with the new locking mount. I hope the new assignable buttons can be used for anything and not just a few selected functions.

Wonder if they will update the MkI with the new codecs or if that's it for firmware updates?

Oh, and I really like the current price!

Aside from the mount redesign there's nothing there that makes me particularly excited. Definitely an indremental improvement that would be great for a new buyer though.

Which is a good thing. We'd all be pissed if they delivered 18stops of DR and 4k at 240fps.

Absolutely. Said it before but I doubt my next camera will be a Sony so if I can get another year or so out of this one then great.

Some of you guys called it...an insignificant update it seems.

I'm going to assume this won't be a 4K/120p camera with 16 stops.

Those were only the specs that were teased, not the full list – I'd be surprised if the sensor, fps, DR, Autofocus and all the other stuff that usually headlines a camera announcement hasn't been changed in some way, as well...

There's no way they are changing the sensor of DR. That would have been top of the list of any new feature. It's a revision. Not a brand new model.

Maybe the people at that website don't want to completely ruin the relationship with Sony and there are few more worthy specs coming...like an increase in HFRs.

Right now my fs7 is working really nicely I'm getting excellent results I'll keep shooting it for another year then maybe get a used mini alex.

I'd expect a new higher DR sensor in their flagships cameras before it trickles down to the lower end. The Fs7 was able to be made for a great price because it borrowed existing sony tech that had been on market for a while. I don't think you will see anything revolutionary with an FS7II just a minor update.
