GH2 Sony NEX-7/A77 - serious competitors for the GH2?

since it´s supposed to be released along with the nex7 and a77 the only info so far is on sonyalpharumors so it´s not real as yet obviously - apparently it´s to give the same focusing speed that the a55 has to the nex mount - the mirror diverts approx. 30% of the light to another sensor just as the slt cameras do - yep, it´s to adapt alpha mount to nex and rumored price is 400us

One thing I see That I do not like already is the movie button on the back of the camera. Much more practical on top like on the GH series.

If Sony does not cripple it, it could be one hell of a camera. But I don't think it will be, because it will be too close to the fs100. The rumored oled viewfinder in itself would be superior to the FS100.

are there any cameras already using avchd 2.0? and if so im curious how the codec performs. my biggest question is will it record 28mbps in 24p and 60p, or do you get something lower in 24p and only the high bitrate in 60p.

Sony FS100 and Panasonic TM700/TM900 all record 1080 60P at 28Mbps. I have shot with all of them and the codec quality is excellent at 28Mbps. As far as 24P goes, there is no change - it tops out at 24 Mbps as per the original AVCHD spec.

A hacked version of this camera would be a real killer (if rumors about rolling shutter, aliasing, moire etc are confirmed). For hacked gh2 users it will have some advantage like the viewfinder, 60p and a little bit larger sensor, but in terms of pure image quality I don't think so. Perhaps in low light and dynamic range but its low!!! 24 mbit codec won't match the hacked gh2.

The GH2 keeps getting better, and we just don't know how hobbled sony will make the new cameras. Will they really allow the 77 to look as good as the f3 or the fs100? Hard to imagine, and yet wonderful to hope for!

Yeah, for all what this Sony can have, I don't think that in pure image quality it will be able to compete with the hacked gh2. I am sure Sony will find ways for it not to come close to the fs-100. The 24p setting could have a birate of 17mbit or no b frames etc. Lots of little thing that won't appear at first glace.

Let´s wait and see. I have high hopes that especially the 1080p50/60 mode with 28mbps will be much better than the 720p50/60 of the Gh2. And so far I haven´t seen better quality with the hack in this mode - maybe now with the new ptool...

for those of us who use both capabilities of the hybrids, the sony´s could balance out a winner for their photography capabilities - but they will never compete against video-only cameras for video studio setups- the advantage is I will never strap an fs100 over my shoulder in india for example - that´s why hybids are worth the compromises .... for journalist , travelers, or just tourist....

According to sonyalpharumors, the upcoming NEX-5N has the same sensor as the current NEX-C3. I checked out some NEX-C3 footage on Vimeo and did not see any line skipping. So, I'm cautiously optimistic about this new wave of Sony cameras.

the new adapter has built in autofocus motors to use all minolat/sony lenses - source sonyalpharumors

If the NEX-7 can process 24MP @ 10p, then it should do 2MP (~1080x1920) at 120p right?

sooooooo;

Full HD @ 60p should be a cinch right?

As the hack gh2 is showing ( a camera with much lower photographic spec than this Sony) the hardware is surely capable, but I think you will have to wait 3 to 5 generations with just incremental update to reach there.
