GH2 Sony NEX-7/A77 - serious competitors for the GH2?

If they managed to TRULY fix rolling shutter, it will be MAJOR. AVCHD2... I'm pumped. I doubt it will compete against the GH2 price, which is hard to beat in the DSLR world, but it could be a serious contender for my next camera purchase.

Before you get too excited remember that Sony has a long history of crippling their consumer line or at the very least making decisions about features that will leave you scratching your head. They're usually frustratingly close to being great but missing the mark.

I feel the same, I thought that they would not implement 24p but it will be present. Now the only thing I am thinking that even if it has avchd 2 you might get 17 mbs for 24p and the 28mbs for 60p. In this way they can keep some distance from the fs-100.

if they DECIDE not to cripple these cameras and give us what we want, and what theyre capable of, this will be amazing. but ill believe it when i see it..

What about lenses? I have a bunch of Nikon primes that are very very useful with GH1/Gh2. Can they be used with these?

Yeap, same variety of adapter as Micro four thirds cameras, even more, some good Sony and Zeiss lenses, also Tamron, Tokina and Sigma too.
Too good to be true, coming from Sony, but on paper this new cameras are really amazing.

They do sound amazing. Including the brand new sensor and the transparent mirror giving the chance to monitor video thru the viewfinder, the way it should be. Price rumors are already out and the A77 is at the high end.

the a77 is an slt and has an alpha mount which doesn´t adapt easily - the nex 7 has a nex mount and you can get alot of adapters because like the m43´s the flange distance is short - also there´s a rumored nex to alpha adapter that has an integrated slt giving the nex´s the lightening fast af of slt´s .

The current generation of Sony Nex cameras have have serious line skipping and aliasing in video mode (just as bad as the Canon's). It remains to be seen whether this new round of products will continue that or not. This is the item I would look at most closely when they become available. If they form the video image by processing every pixel, like the GH2 does, then they will indeed be "killer' cameras. Time will tell.

BS...the god created too much BS in the world. stop the BS and starting give Love to all

Presumably they're talking about the light lost when the image passes through the translucent mirror on the A77.

I just came across to an interesting thread at dpreview and galloped through it. It seems that the nex-7 has an advantage of about 0.3-0.5 stop over the a77. And obviously the mounts are different. But I didn´t understand this mount (adapter) thing quite well so far...

I think it´s based on comparing the slt models with standard dslrs with the same sensor ...not sure of the model numbers but possible the a55 against the a580 ? The light loss comes from the light diverted by the translucent mirror in the optical path. So, on the nex 7, if you chose to use the new adapter, which has a translucent mirror , then you would be , or should be , more or less the same sensitivity as the a77.
