Sony advertising -- seriously?

Okay, so this is pretty desperate. Google "HPX300" and watch what comes up in the paid google ads ("sponsored links")...

EDIT: I just tried it again, and I had to do it twice before it came up, but ... yeah, there it is. Sony has tagged that if you search for the HPX300, they try to push you over to their Sony HDV site. "Sony Hpx300"... Yeah. Good luck with that.

Well, I don't find it all that surprising that they would tag HPX300 as a keyword for their ads, makes sense that you would want to try to get the attention of people looking at the competition (for example, if you google "Sony EX1" or "Sony EX3" you'll see Panasonic's HPX170 and HPX300 site come up in the paid links, respectively)

But what is surprising is that they they would label their site as "Sony HPX300"
That's just weird... and a bit confusing.

Barry I think you just caputered a glitch in the matrix.....
......any moment now somebody is going to offer you speed and tell you a story about a white rabit ........matrix themesong.... hey they might look like they're working for sony :)

Ok I really need to go shower now.

That's the part that I thought was just pathetic. I can see them wanting to poach any casual googler, but -- to name their site "Sony HPX300" -- and then to not even direct them to the XDCAM-EX site, but to the HDV site? Wha?

what's even more mindboggling is why Barry Green had to google the words hpx 300. hmmmm,.....infinite possibilties ....the mind wanders in search for an answer .

My question is, is it Sony or Google that came up with "Sony Hpx300." Because when you go to the Sony URL the page isn't labeled "Hpx300."

My guess is that Sony is keyword targeting google searches to anything pro video related, which from my understanding is a pretty accepted advertising practice.

What does bug me is how many times I see s google ad for B&H saying something is on "sale."
