Someone Got One

yes indeed.. if we cant get our cameras soon at least there will be tons of footage floating around to keep us occupied.

The sooner I know if the HVX200 suck, I can rebuild my budget for the Canon XL H1 I originated planed to buy. It a few $k difference, so I better know soon ;)

Basicly, is it what we all hoped for or not ? Is it the holy grail we have been looking for. I can't wait to see footage, alot of footage with different testing conditions. And have good reviews about them. Did Panasonic really fixed all the thing their enginered told was to be fix...

This post is anoying me, I ratter the beautiful story of the Unstopable HVX200... Please make my dream back to like !!

mochouinard, you said right! I really hope Hvx200 is the camera.
I've reading this forum for months and months...with all my language limits.:embarasse
I hope Panasonic did a good job! I really hope!:)
Canon footage is great for my taste, but dvcpro is the revolution! The goodbye to Gop problems!
Please Panasonic make the miracle come true!:)

What I'm curious about is why everyone so excited about Kaku's footage when Barry Green and Jared Land already shot some bad-ass footage with it.
Because when we analyzed that footage, we were chastised for picking apart footage from a camera that wasn't "production-level" yet. If Kaku's got the real deal, then I definitely can't wait to see his clips.

To be honest, I haven't been thrilled at all with footage I've seen from either the XL-H1 or the HVX (granted the "true" HVX footage we've been given up to this point has been extremely limited). I have been more than prepared to dive into the world of the HVX for months (goodness knows they've been teasing us with it long enough), but if it isn't up to par, I'm not gonna spend $8,000+ on it to get a workable solution going. HD is cool, variable framerates at this pricepoint are amazing, and P2 is worth it's weight in gold, but if the footage is noisy and full of artifacts then it renders all of that moot. Hopefully some of Kaku's footage will clarify some of these questions we've been aching ages for - for good or bad - very soon.

Haakon, I agree.

All the formats and options mean nothing if the footage is noisy
with artifacts.

I know it's 720p but...and what about that? LINK

From what footage I have seen of the Sony HDV 1080i and early HVX200 DVCPRO 1080i projected....and the few shots that have been uploaded here in the camera codec....I have to say the HVX is a sony killer. Sure, the JVC stuff is good for the price..and for HDV...but c'mon....DVCPRO-HD codec is a HDCAM codec competitor...not HDV. For the price..the HVX will be unbeatable!!

Wait until the next VARICAM with 1080 24P. Panny has Sony's Number.

Until then, well...prepare the competition...

And can be a XL-H1 killer?

Or a JVC killer?

JVC footage LINK
Have yet to see the canon..but they did not use the HDV codec for their demo...I heard it was DVCPRO-HD. Has anyone confirmed that?

I havent been impressed too much withthe JVC footage I have seen either...although i love the form factor of the 100.

Well...I don't know what it expect us with the HVX footage but regarding Stephen's footage, simply beautiful. Very film-like! My only doubt is as far as 720p mode is concerned, if this resolution will be enough to 35mm film-out@big screen...maybe not...anyone knows any screening test made it with that cam?

Thanks to Kaku Ito for posting some footage. But I have to say, it's not worth the download. And why are earth is he shooting footage while he's on a bike? There's got to be an easier way to test your camera!

It is nice that ther is one person who has the camera and I will be looking at his comments, BUT I look at his comments as ONE Data point on the map.

Now, before you all think I'm crazy  there is some random "noise" to one person's view point about the camera. Is the camera typical or does it show some random first run production problems? Is the person telling us about the camera overly forgivving OR overly critical of any potential issues?

As the number of users increases, the randomness can be averaged out and we start to see a general pattern to all the user's view points on the camera.

While the camera does ship today, the full feedback does NOT come for another 1 or 2 weeks.

Mostly yes, partly no.

At DV Expo they were showing some demo footage, in two discrete parts: some footage from landscapes in Italy, and the full-bore production of "The Watchmaker" (grip truck, crane, all the toys, etc). The Italy footage was recorded to the internal HDV tape, all the Watchmaker stuff was recorded on a DVCPRO-HD deck using the HD-SDI output.

At DV Expo, all the footage playback was done off DVCPRO-HD tape.

Mainly because he's shot basically the same footage on all the other cameras so it gives a good basis for comparison.

And it's the bike-based nature of his footage that caused him to sell his FX1 and HC1. HDV couldn't deal with the jitters and bouncing and the fine detail in the trees & shrubs in the background of his mountain biking footage, so he sold them and is now going with an HVX under the understanding that it will cope with those circumstances much better.
