When is Q'04? Fall? October?

Jan_Crittenden said:Do you own a DVX100? If you did then you would know that there really are 24 progressive frames laid down on the 60 interlaced recording. Just like we do in the SD mode on an interlaced format, we can do it on an interlaced HD format. It is real 24P and can be extracted to 24 frames on the timeline. So no not like a Cinealta that requires a 24P tape machine and monitors that do 24P and switchers that do 24P, this will work over firewire or in the case of P2 a simple transfer of the file.
Hope that helps,
Jan

Not sure what you're asking. In P2, it's already captured. It's captured at the time you recorded it. So if you plug the P2 card into your computer, or if you recorded to hard disk and plug that in your computer, it's already on the card as if it was a hard disk. There is no "capture" time, it's already captured. You can edit instantly.John_Hudson said:Hey Barry?
Currently we capture while viewing; 00:60:00 of Tape = 00:60:00 of Capture (Not including In/Out or selective scene captures).
How will P2 do it into Vegas 6? Will it be faster if yoiu want to dump the whole tape in or still be a 00:60:00 of Tape = 00:60:00 of Capture?
I know what you're saying, and I'm a little worried that might happen, but... it'd be suicide for them to pull politics over compatibility. Both their major competitors already natively support it, and have for months. If they don't... well, in that game of hardball, I think they'll lose.Mediacre said:I don't see Sony supporting Panasonic DVCPRO-HD in Vegas, but you never know. Maybe they will, but it's Sony, so probably not. Sony's stuck up.
No. Two 2-GB cards would give you 10 minutes of 720p24 and 4 minutes of 1080p24. You would need two 8-GB cards for the recording times you specified, and they will cost about $4,000 for a pair when they are introduced.Zig_Zigman said:For 2 2g p2 cards, I get 40 mins of 720/24p and 16 mins of 1080/24p. Is this right?
I believe that the HD100 allows direct-to-disk recording, too.jrv3034 said:Of course, you can always get the HD100, and be forced to do half-baked HDV 720p on tape only.
