Some of my C4D work...

haha I actually just started pre-pro on a animated short and I'm in the pre-pro stage of a live action short too (with CG of course :))

Here's an updated walk cycle.

Josh, I had a crash report on the last link. Maybe I'm just getting obsolete, haha,

As far as the walk cycle, I don't think it's quite there yet. Can I suggest watching Happy Feet ?

I think it's time you started working on an animated short... :)

Do you have a clue? Lol. Do you know how hard that is? That's poo pooing hard man. Good luck though Josh. I couldn't do it. Not yet anyways.

Strange Gord. It must be a quicktime codec thing? Did you get a chance to see the last walk cycle? It's certainly better but definitely not there. I didn't expect my first walk cycle to be a winner hehe more of a learning experience. I have three other people I'm working with on the animated short not just me :) but still a daunting task! However, I do plan to make a super short like 20 second animation 'short' by my self soonish.

Cheers,
Josh

By the way for some inspiration take a look at this short animated film created by one man. Though I'm not convinced he's human.... He's so good at so many things.

Here's some VFX I did for the True/False Film Festival. I used SynthEyes, Cinema 4D, Photoshop and After Effects.

Working on my organic modeling and learning Zbrush. I'm modeling Rango :). I plan to go the whole 9 yards here, Fully sculpt, texture, rig and animate. I rigged a few things but ironically enough never a biped besides a penquin but I need to practice some animating so Rango will do just fine. Using references from google images but soon I will have my hands on the new Cinefx, 3DWorld and Animation Magazine which cover Rango pretty well this month.

Haha. I saw the movie a couple days ago. I loved it. Don't Tango with the Rango. Looking good so far. Is that zbrush modelling with zspheres or are you doing the base mesh in C4D first?

Looking good so far, Josh. You'll probably get good results with that character. I've found that slim models are easier to deform than bulky ones. Easier to weight. Keep it up!!

Thanks Gord. Same here I loved the film hence me modeling Rango, haha. Thus far all Zbrush. I was going to make a base in C4D but wanted to learn Zspheres so I started there. I'm fairly new to Zbrush. I've had it for like a year but really haven't had the time to sit down and learn it but wow I can't believe how amazing it is. The new zsphere algorithm in Zbrush 4 is much improved! I can certainly say it will forever change the way I model organically. Just an amazing piece of software. I recomend the plugin Zswitcher. It changes the UI controls to C4D/Maya.

Josh

Early look before any sculpting.

Thanks Tower. I might have to do a retypo after I'm finished with him in Zbrush but maybe not we shall see. I might just be able to adjust some loops and that might be good enough.

Cheers,
Josh

Cool. I can't wait to try the new zspheres in zbrush. I should have a new PC in October so I should be able to upgrade my software then.

Well, if you do retopo it, it's pretty easy in zbrush. I had to retopo my creature a couple of times as I was changing things. It's more tedious than anything.

Thanks Gord. Good to know it's easy enough to retopo in Zbrush. I was contemplating buying Topogun but if Zbrush is good enough no need to :).

Cheers,
Josh
