Some of my C4D work...

My first reaction was 'Holy Smokes' and then I laughed at the pun. 6 hours. Man people just don't appreciate the render times we have to do. I'm up to 1 hr/frame now on almost anything I do.

Looks excellent Josh. I feel your pain though, haha. Keep it up man.

BTW, RenderTitan just had a huge sale on render times so if you need to use a render farm for clients try them.
(No, I don't get paid for saying that, I plug them because I like them.)

Yeah, looks great Josh.

//Stock footage like that you could probably sell, like DetFilms.

Haha, thanks Gord. Yes, render times in the world of HD 3D can be hefty especially when you introduce a fluid system like TFD. I have another render I will start tonight of an updated explosion a bit more detail and better smoke. Thanks for the detfilms tip that might be a good idea eventually.

Good call on the RenderTitan. This isn't for a client yet but I have a sports package I'm doing for a big client using Vray that could probably benefit from RenderTitan!

Thanks Tower. Particles and fluids are wicked fun! Tedious but rewarding.

Cheers,
Josh

New explosion. No up-res this time and it's twice as long. Getting there but the turbulence needs to be on a larger scale I think it's to fast. Sim time was really fast about 10 minutes but the render was super long around 15 hours. I think I have some wonky settings to get such a long render.

That's freakin' awesome, Josh. Very realistic. I'm not sure about the scale though. To me, the particle size looks like a very large explosion, far away. If it were a bit slower, with some object for scale, it would be on the money.

Thanks Tower! Yeah, I was going for a very large scale explosion far away :). You're right a bit slower would help a heck of a lot and of course if it was placed in a scene instead of a sea of black, haha.

Josh

[TD="colspan: 2"]So a while ago I made a flocking bird simulation using C4D and AE. Well, I wanted to take that a little further and track it into a live action scene. I shot the footage on my T2i and in post I used C4D, SynthEyes and After Effects.

Thanks Gord. Much appreciated. I'm rendering a new version with a quicker more realistic flock :). Also, curious to set this up all in C4D with TP.

Cheers,
Josh

Cool.I suppose quicker might be a matter of taste. I found the slow moving flock to be eerie. The blockiness I understand and I know you do to. You know what your doing. I'm looking forward to the next one.

Thanks Tom!

Here's another project I made to further learn Turbulence FD for Cinema 4D. I camera mapped the photo with the help of Projection Man then created 3 fluid containers for the explosion with TFD. The sky is made in C4D. I did all the post work in After Effects. Turn your speakers on.

You ought to go and try and get a job from Michael Bay... lol

By the way, I took a look at your Vimeo page and gotta say, your tutorials are pretty darn good...

Hahahah. Thanks Tom. I'd be happy to work for Bay lol. I'm pretty sure he could afford me.

Thanks about the tutorials too ;).

Cheers,
Josh
