Some of my C4D work...

I just posted a preview video for my next tutorial. Covering C4D, AE, SynthEyes, some Vray and more.

Or check out the post on my website

Here's a flocking bird simulation I made using C4D and After Effects. I rendered three flap cycles from a rig I built with CD tools then used them as sprites for Particular.

Looks cool, Josh. I think the individual birds need more movement, like flapping a lot more, but the ebb-n-flow of the flock looks really great. Very realistic.

I tried that, it just won't play. I tried HD on and off and all I can manage to see is about 3 frames maybe. It's exremely sluggish.
I can't play HD on this PC anyways but SD always works. Maybe it's a codec thing, I don't know. Everything else on vimeo including your other vids seem to work fine.

The few frames I did manage to see look really good though.

Hmm that's really strange Gord. I will upload a quicktime to my server for you to look at.

'Nature's Hill"
Fun little test I made last night. Creating a grassy hill.

Josh a touch offtopic, just wondering if you know of a stock site where you can get one to two second clips of things like the birds you created etc? Small elements that can be used by non C4D people like myself in AE with particular etc.

Hi Noel, that's a good and interesting question lol. Sometimes you can find stock cg stuff on artbeats but nothIng like my birds that I'm aware of. Maybe that's something I should look into for some side cash.

I found out a few days ago I won two Addy awards for this spot. One for the spot as a whole and the other for Motion GFX/VFX . Thought I would share the good news.

Holy smokes, that's a nice flock sim you have there. Thanks for reupping it. So were you saying those are sprites? Pretty good.

Congrats on the Addy's too.

Thanks Gord! Yep, sprites but I used 3 different angles of a rig of a bird I built in C4D. Here's a render from one of the angles link.

]Finally getting a chance to work on a few side projects. We have 20 inches of snow coming so they say. Well I got my little penguin all rigged up. Even added a spring constraint for his cute little tail. Spring constraints are so cool! Spent a good 6 hours on the rigging today! Rig seems to be working great thus far but I think I need to make a waddle cycle to make it sure it's a nice and tight. So I guess waddle cycle, UVs and texturing in BP tomorrow. Probably will make some morphs in Zbrush too.

Attached rig and my low poly model without the hypernurbs.

Well I finished the rig. I added a few more controls like a morph a morph slider for his eyes and a cluster with spring constraint for his belly along with spring constraint for his tail. I just completed my first walk cycle as well. Wow, I really feel for professional animators and riggers! Way harder than it looks and very tedious but also very rewarding! Next up UVs then bodypaint and hair.
