So I've got an FD lens collecting dust...

I have a Canon FD 35-105 3.5 that I picked up years ago, sitting on the shelf collecting dust. I can't quite afford a nice constant aperture zoom for a few months so I'm thinking about mounting it to my T2i in the interim. I know the issues that go along with FD lenses on EOS bodies but is it really that bad? Does anybody have any experience with this lens or other FD mounts? Can I get an adapter recommendation as well?

This is not my work, but you can see in this video your lens used on a 5dMkII: http://vimeo.com/15795705
For brightlight conditions it is doable and the effect of the adapter is to provide a more dreamy look on the image, but then it would be probably better not to mix with other lenses on the same footage.
I have the Zykkor FD to EOs adapter and it works quite nice, apart from the fact that for some lenses there appears to be a brighter spot in the center.
Personally I was not much satisfied by FD lenses on my 550d (some worked better than others though) and I have already replaced most of my FD lenses with M42 and OM ones.
Last, but not least, apart from the softening, halos etc. you have to consider that your effective field of view will be further cropped leading to an overall crop factor of about 2x on the 7D. So you'll get an effective field of view of around 70-210mm...
Good luck

Thanks for the info. I found a glassless adapter on Ebay for about $15, which should eliminate additional crop factor at the expense of infinity focus. At that price it's not much of loss if doesn't perform well, I figure I might as well give it a go

Too good to be true! These adapters without glass work basically as extension tubes for your less. You may be able to focus up to a couple of inches at best. Useful if you want to do macro shots but I think this is not your goal

Good to know! I was hoping for atleast 10-15ft of focus distance but inches would be pretty disappointing. I guess I'll just wait it out until I can afford a nice zoom.

you can just replace your fd mount with canon eos body cap (with hole in it) and glue it to body of FD lens .
Not expensive and you can just rip it off if you wont be happy about outcome.
Its easy and body cap is like 2 $
