Smuggler's Ransom- OFFICIAL THREAD

Just wanted to mention. I think the backround in that keyed out shot should be even more out of focus. But I'm stupid because I can't see it in motion.

Also, Why not just film it live?

Favortie quotes, " ITS A WHITE SEMI. SO YOU KNOW THAT BLINDING LIGHT? IT'll BE *SWOOSH*!"

"ALL THIS CRAP IS GOOD"

LOL! Those quotes made me laugh, haha!

Anyway, the reason we didn't film it live is because we had to travel around to find spots that looked like Eastern Europe (or close to looking like it) and we didn't want to have to have the actors and stuff have to go to those places... That's the main reason... and... if we see a modern car in the shot, it kills it (as this is supposed to take place in the 80's)

I just realized something - whenever you're using a wheelchair as a dolly you put the equipment in the wheelchair so that it's not as difficult when the set is 5 miles away.

Oh well, won't help now.

Ah, good point! I'll remember that next time!

Okay, no offense Brandon. The guy who is recording the BTS it's almost completley useless. He says annoying things and such. Yeah I guess I'm being rude. Although, I'd like to see him film more of the actors acting. Unless of course like.. That's going to be a seperate thing.

But otherwise, he's pretty annoying yeah.

LOL... you're talking about my partner and co-director/co-writer Daniel. heehee. Hope he doesn't see this!

I liked the diary. It was cool to see how things were going.

Thanks man! I like how you said, "things were going" :) past tense! I love it! I never really thought about that!

Wew- 400+ posts and counting. Usually I like to read what has been said before I post- so that I don't repeat to much- but as I've got to take off shortly, I don't have the time to read through them all. So forgive me if I'm repeat postings.

Nice job on the casting of actors- you've got some great faces in there. I like your site as well- nice touch in adding the banner above the photos in the autoviewer. (I'm looking forward to seeing the BTS stuff, when I have more time.) The VFX are great from what I've seen so far, I'm sure that you are feeling pretty good with how your project is coming along- which you should. It looks like you have put a lot of work into it.

The score for the trailer is great as well. Although I think that the trailer could be tightened up some. I think you've hit the right story points.

Anyway, good job- keep up the good work. I look forward to looking through the rest of the site as well as this thread.

Thanks Ryan! That means a lot comin' from you! We got real blessed with an awesome cast! Thanks for checking it out, and there will be more to come! :)

Scoring begins on Monday, and I'll be shooting some BTS footage as Matt's working on the score... we also have some exciting things in developement for some sound design stuff! More soon!

Update: Everything is edited (potentially) waiting on Daniel to watch one last scene and sign off on it. The entire film will go to the composer, Matt, on Monday. A few days behind our deadline, but we're still going strong. Some things, like getting that new trailer done, slowed things down a bit.

Hey man -- trailer looks great.

Love the helicpoter shot and I think you've made some great editing choices, like the comeback at the end where he says she wants a miracle but she's getting me and the final plate coming up with the sound effect.

Update: Compiled the full cut of the film together, and the runtime will be 50 min. We're happy, as it's a very well paced 50 min. :)

I'd think that's pretty much on the nose to sell as a 60min slot on TV.

EJ

that'd be excellent. Thanks for the comments Isaac and Daniel! I can't wait to get this sucker done, and out... I think it's fantastic!
