Thanks All,
I dropped into Best Buy and the cheapest phone to use as a VF is just $20 and requires no monthly fee for wifi. The salesman told me to find out what OS the DJI company requires for the OSMO to make sure these old cheap phones will work.
I am learning online that there are some drawbacks to the X3 but I see it as just a way to pimp up the look here and there. I can always pin a radio mic on the subject and have it go to another camera, marry them in post. What I need to find out is what it looks like in typical interior corporate available light. Puredrifting says it sucks in the mud but I don't know if he meant night exteriors, indoor concerts or what.
Speaking of jibs, I did see a former industrial manufacturing client of mine had a video made and the production company used a really long jib and wow, it really jazzed up the visuals with up 'n over moves. But it must have been 20' or so, more than a regular DP would own, so I would have had to bring in an owner op for that. But nowadays, especially in a giant place like that you could bring in a good drone owner op for much cheaper.
P.S. Back in the 70s there were no jibs, just cranes. So I would sit in a small plastic seat next to what were then giant cameras, and on the ass end of this humongous teeter-totter would be my weight in lead weights plus 5lbs. When the grips would lower me to the ground to discuss or change mags they were petrified I would undo my seatbelt and jump off, and thus kill whoever was under the ass end with the lead, so they gaffer taped my seat belt buckle closed. I guess that was the first time outside of school I was diagnosed as ADD.
