single frame & time-lapse

XanderDP, thanks for your info. About how many frames did you expose with your D200? I am afraid to ruin the shutter much too early. Michael

A friend of mine has gotten over a million frames from his Minolta Dimage A1, and he still has most of them to prove it. His camera went bad because of the Sony CCD defect, but Minolta just fixed that free and the thing is still going.

I was worried about killing the shutter on my 20D, but I think the whole assembly only costs about $50. The bigger worry on an SLR is the mirror flapping up and down millions of times. The wear and noise of it is what makes SLR cameras inferior to others for time-lapse. Too bad you can't lock the mirror up indefinitely.

Thanks for your feeedback, stokestack. Makes me more optimistic to use SLR's for time-lapse. But I still hope - as probably the most of us do - to find this feature added to the RED. Michael

OK, check this out; Conan O'Brien's show called my friend Tony and asked him for material featuring Chicago. We figured they'd use it for commercial bumpers or something, but it turns out they constructed most of the intro out of it!

He sells footage, by the way, if anyone needs some at good prices.
