Thanks Mike! No, no final CC. I just played some with the still in Irfan view, my picture viewer :D Some more contrast and desaturated it a bit. I'm far away from final CC/Grading. Just got a first rough cut.

I agree. A nice capture of emotion also. Works for me. Good work Simon. Looks as good as anything I'd expect from a high end prodution. A little CC maybe, but yeah, no worries.

Haha, thanks guys!

My DoP did a great job on this one! About emotion and my acting skills... well, let's say I am pretty underwhelmed by myself :zombie_smiley: In general and especially in this film. Directing and acting doesn't work, thats's for sure now. This is the one scene that I am quite happy with myself. The grab is not used in the finished film though.

I'm sorry to hear that...
I know what you're saying though... I put myself into a few shots on our film cuz we needed more extras... and that just drove me nuts cuz i couldn't watch the takes from the monitor. So then we have to do that extra step of doing a playback... and ... i just can't imagine acting too! I'm sure it's better than you're saying though...

We're all our own worst critic!

...unless you're Uwe Boll

Hehe, that's how it works when you're so low budget. I had to play this part, because I am the only one that can do some special things shown in the film :D But I was so stressed and busy preparing everything, that I could not even prepare for my role. It hit me in the face when I stood on the set in front of the camera. Gladly I am not the main character and my lead did an awesome job!

Great framing and color Simon.
This is #1 I will watch.

Funny thing, when we all where shooting in 4:3 we where masking to 16:9.
No we shoot 16:9 and masking to Cinemascope.

When I watched UNZEIT the first time on a 16:9 big plasma I felt without the black stripes at top and bottom, it looses the "Cinemafeel".
So I did the Directorscut with a 1:2,35 mask and it looks much "bigger"

....at least I think.

Great grabs, Simon! Sorry I haven't stopped in in a while. :)

Woar! Even busy penguin stopped by :D

Looking good!

Thanks alot Frank! I hope I don't disappoint now :D

About the masking. I hear ya! Well, it is even called CINEMAscope :beer:It just looks cool! And it opens up alot of possibilities for interesting framing.

My last entry was in 16:9 and I wanted to try something new and decided right at the beginning to shoot "Falling" in cinemascope. My DoP was really happy with this decision as well :)

I have yet to see the Directors cut of UNZEIT. I watched the making of the VFX already, but didn't have enough ZEIT for the film.

And I am really looking forward to THE DOOR

Great looking grabs Simon!! I understand you on the directing/acting thing: it must be really difficult to get into a part and then have to step back out of it to get the global view of a director. I'm sure we'll forget about all that once we are watching your film though.
Jason

I am expecting you to win it all this time, Simon. Do not disappoint me. Consider this a referendum on not only your talents as a filmmaker, but as an index of your worth as a human being.

No pressure. Have fun!

Thanks Jason! I actually never got really into the character.

Dude, no worries! After watching the rough cut, I can assure you that I am going to win this one! :D
