Shrigg Jig Production Cage

Could you post pictures of the 7D and GH1 cages next to each other to see the size differences? Or do you have the different dimensions for both cages? The 7D is about 1" wider and taller than the GH1, would this be the same reflection from small to the XL cage?

Like someone else posted above, when the GH1 is in the cage it looks like there isn't enough room on the corners to add a quick release mount to the camera itself, you'd have to add it to the underneath of the cage. I'm curious how much room the GH1 would have the in XL cage, plus how much room a 7D has in the XL cage.

Thanks a lot for any help.

Shrigg rigg mounting question

Shrigg rigg mounting question

Hi,

I've purchased a shrigg rigg, just the cage on it's own, without the bars or raiser.
I need to mount the cage on a tripod/monopod. However, the bottom of the cage is too thick for a standard screw.
How can I get the cage mounted on a tripod?!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
I need to mount the cage on a tripod/monopod. However, the bottom of the cage is too thick for a standard screw.

I don't have one so I can't give you an answer but could you elaborate a little more. What exactly do you mean by the base of the cage is too thick for a standard screw? Does this mean you can't screw it into the base deep enough to for the cage to be secure, so you need a longer screw, or?

I already have a IndirailsDSLR and a C-mount, always looking for a smaller alternative than the C-Mount and this Cage is perfect, i send them a email to buy one Cage cause i´m from Venezuela. Hope they respond.

Yeah I don't have free long distance so I didn't want to just call up indiesystem but I think I will have to borrow a friends phone. It seems like they don't really answer emails too well (it's been a week) and the website hasn't been updated with any information (which isn't that difficult to do), plus the inventor Shrigg hasn't kept up with the thread to answer questions or give technical specifications as far a size and weight are concerned. I would think if they did a better job at this they could be moving many more cages, right?

I'll just chime in to remind everyone that indisystem has always been better to reach by phone. The cage is good enough to command a much higher price... If you want the good deal, calling in your order is a small inconvenience. The thread got rather long so I will restate the weight and size info. The small Shrigg fits GH2 and T2i. The large fits 5D, 7D and Nikons. Both versions weigh around 1 lb. We've done our best to make a universal cage that fits like a custom. Ask anyone who has one, it kicks ass and makes a DSLR into a well-protected, impressive piece of gear.

I already order mine, contact Tim by mail cause i´m in Venezuela, email him the last Friday he answer saturday telling me, "IndiSystem will send my a Paypal invoice", today wednesday the invoice came and pay for it. Now wait.

Hope to use with the GH and the Nex 5n.

Cheers.

Shots of my setup from a shoot the other day.

Really like the rig but wish all the angled edges were a little smoother. I added a rubber pad between the bottom of the cage and the camera.

Hi there,

I've got the same Shrigg Rigg and I can't seem to access my audio input! It looks like even if I had the 'L-shaped' cable you have for the input to the camera I wouldn't be able to access it. You've obviously got it in ok!
Do you connect it once you've mounted the camera onto the rig or do you have to plug it in before?
Can I ask which cable you got and where you got it from? I'd like to try it. IMG_0858.jpg

Thanks,
Jack

Jack, it is generally considered bad forum etiquette to post the same question again and again. This is my third response to your question. Please use a 90 degree cable and/or adapter. As I've said before, that hole is not meant to be inline with the audio jack at all and we definitelty do not recommend passing a cable through it.

Who makes the cage that has the attatchment to snugly hold the hdmi cable in. I'm not talking aout the Zacuto one either?

just got my shrigg cage

just got my shrigg cage

I just got my shrigg cage and I'm confused about the pieces that came with it. There a screw, a wrench, and a knob. The screw is too long to use to attach the camera by itself and leave a 1/4 in gap of space. When I thread the screw into the knob it only goes in so far and doesn't work towards anything. Also when the camera is mounted by this screw the battery compartment is an 1/8 inch off and can't open. What am I doing wrong or what's up? thanks for the help

Hi guys, yes the Shrigg cage is still available. Just call Tim at Indisystems to order: 319-504-3985 between 7 AM and 7 PM CDT

@Kubrick71, That is the union bolt that attaches the hot shoe to the top of the cage for increased stability, see the pic below.
There should also be an allen screw in the package to attach the cage to the camera's tripod mount.

okay thanks, I'm going to have to call and see if they can ship that allen screw to me cause it wasn't in the ziplock with everthing else. Also would you know why the batter compartment is off? Would that have to do with the missing allen screw?

The battery opening is correct, just use the rear mounting hole. The front one is for mounting the optional rods/riser. Thought that seemed pretty self explanitory

While it definitely should have been included, you can go to any hardware store and get a proper allen screw for 20 cents or so. That would be quicker/easier/cheaper than waiting for indisystem to ship you one.
