While I respect Mr Moore's opinion..DP4 ..resolution is not an issue.

We all have 'what works for us' so I appreciate the respect and respect you opinion too!

To me the camera records at 1080p, in an ideal world one would monitor at 1080 but that is not a portable option at this time
The Dp6 means you are monitoring at 720, which is seeing about 2/3 of the pixels you are recording
THe DP4 is 480 which is seeing about 1/4 of the pixels you are recording

In other words with a DP4 you do not see 75% of the information you are recording

To me this is critical in terms of aquiring (or not) focus

This is a S35 camera, often mixed with prime lenses at wide Tstops

It is a challenge to focus

Now if you are shooting with a Focus Puller doing the focus for you using marks, or maybe, shooting at 6.3 with the kit lens in AF then the res of the monitor does not matter.

If, however, you are operating alone and trying to pull the full best from the camera (wide Tstop prime lens) IMO the resolution of the monitor becomes of critical importance

That is of course just my opinion

Nope, I flip it around, so I can see it from the top, but I route all the menus to the external monitor anyway.

If you want to svivel the monitor around, you need the 9".

I´m selling my 9" C frames by the way, ....just saying (nudge, nudge, wink, wink) ;-)

My 9" Cage work fine:

I undestand that and I kind of agree with you. We want to monitor with the best resolution possible. What I am saying is that I find the DP6 (or equivalently sized monitor) too big for on-camera monitoring, particularly handheld. I tried to mount the DP6 but I have to put it too far from my face to be comfortable, approximatly on the side of the mattebox. The DP4 is the perfect size. Would I liked it to be of higher res? Of course.

But in use, I have found that the dp4 resolution, given it's size and feature (peaking works great on it), does not restrict me, at all, in my ability to properly achieve focus, even with prime lenses at wide stops.

And it is of course my opinion too, I think it's great that the market today give to us so many options. I hope forum members will be able to select the right product for them to fit a specific application, based on our varied opinions.

(and forgive my english skills, i'm a french speaker).

I had the same problem, had to use the huge ass Dp1x for shooting handheld with my face pressed up against it, completely cross eyed...awful. Grabbed a cheap cineroid and have been in handheld shooting heaven. This camera is lovely in the ENG style, and when I need it I've got my big monitor to use when on sticks.

Do you mind telling me which baseplate you're using?

My Tripod RIG from India, and there is this baseplate with 2 rods:

for my Shoulder RIG I use some kind of MIX of old Cavision RIG and carbonfiber rods and sholder parts from 9" Cage, also from Idia:

A few different setups.

This has been working well for handheld. Very stripped down, but I like it. Light and comfy

Motion Control. I believe this spot is currently playing in Targets on Channel Red. If you see a spot with a couple having a christmas card war, it was shot on the fs100! It was one seamless shot using motion control. Bunch of lighting changes, wardrobe, turned out cool.

Don't mind the fancy matte box...

Dude...what kind of wild track is that?! Is that a ladder? With skateboard AND rollerblade wheels? So many questions about this one picture....

It's a Berkey System ladder dolly that we modified a bit for this job. It runs on an aluminum ladder, and they can be connected for an endless amount of track.
