Dark Side of the Camera
Added a better handle, a cheese plate or exoskeleton?

Here is the place to show off.

This is my (preliminary) rig for the moment (sorry the crappy smartphone pic - I do some better ones tomorrow)

Still ab bit awkward, but need to go to the machine shop next week and get me some custom build stuff.

iphone shots of a quick tight run and gun.

W/Cineroid finder. Although using the roid with the FS was difficult.

Ergonomically, it's nice when the side of the FS is mashed against your cheek, the follow focus is grazing your lips, and the roid' is so tight you think it's going to suck your eyeball out. Head cam!!

Why difficult? Could you give us more details? I am in the process of deciding which EVF to buy, between zacuto (Good brand, quality, expensive) SmallHD (Good reviews, less expensive, bigger) and Cineroid (Less known brand, less reviews, less expensive).

Small HD gives 'HD' Vision, Sanken CS2 onboard, Lav receiver

Hawkwoods powers camera and monitor

Shown is kit lens but I also use Nikkors

Rig is desinged to hug the shoulder and provide handheld balance, there is a 501 tucked away to drop onto my sticks..

Here is my shoulder rig in progress.

24" rods
Cavision handgrip
Portabrace Universal Shoulder Pad (IMO one pf the most underrated rig accessories. Simple design, great effectiveness)

To do:
Find a better base plate
Figure something for counterweight (dead weight or AB barreries?!?)
Getting an EVF

If you want to make a cheap counterweight, just go to a fishing supply store and get some lead sinkers. I gaff taped together some two pound, and one pound lead sinkers for my counterweight. Total cost $6! You're going to have to tape it onto your rails whenever you want to use it, but it works.

Most of these rigs look very front heavy -for shoulder use

My monitor is significantly in front of the lens (needs to be adjusted with a 14 but works with 18)

Dive weights make a clean counter weight for $20

Personally I like the weight to work for me - thats a brick battery running mon and camera

The Cineroid was glitchy in the extreme with the FS100 - perhaps because there is so much info coming out of the HDMI?

Anyway I was losing signal every twenty seconds...

My very humble rig... nothing much, was at a veteran train docu shoot today. Brought my homemade Rigwheels dolly... my homemade Ikea shoulder mount (which amazingly worked decently with the FS100) and well, yeah, it works... :)

I too think the Portabrace shoulderpad is so underrated and hasn't gotten much love. For 50 bucks its really great and on long flights I can use it as a pillow...

Nice rigs people. For once in my life Sony is producing some cameras I'm really interested in.... cheers

Quick question for the guys who posted pics (or anyone actually), what lens mounts are you using? Definitely not feeling the E-mount lens I got with the camera... lol
