NEED HELP FAST!! Importing stills into FCP 6

Hello everyone,

I have tried searching for a bit, but time is of the absolute essence. I am down to the wire on a project, and need to do some finishing things.

What I need to do is to import still images (from DSLR) into an HD timeline. I am working in an HDV 1080i60 sequence at 29.97 fps. Here is what I am doing...

- Import the particular image
- Everything looks fine in the viewer when I double click on it
- When I take it to the timeline though and open it in the canvas, it looks like absolute sh**.
I have tried exporting the video, thinking that it might just be in the canvas, but that didn't fix anything.

So, it is not a problem with rendering, as some have said where I have searched... It could be a problem with size, but I am not sure.

If anyone knows anything, please post in here or PM me asap. Thank you for your help in advance.

Cheers,
Ryan

your DPI might be too high?

in your case i would use a template set at 72dpi with
a canvas size 2x your sequence (will allow you to move/zoom your image)

I tried changing the DPI in Photoshop, but that also cut the size of the image down greatly. I put it in the timeline and it still looked just as bad as before.

Also, I forgot to mention how the images look. They look incredibly pixelated and rough.

I would do what you just told me to do, but unfortunately I am new to this program and am not sure how to do it. If anyone can give me a step by step of how to do that it would be greatly appreciated.

Canvas is a low resolution proxy. The only way to evaluate your footage is a production monitor.

I agree in relation to color and things like that but it should still be sharp and crisp in the canvas window when all the way rendered. At least from what I've worked with. I work with images from a D80 and have never had that issue.
