Shot with the 7D and HVX200

I liked it. Well shot. well paced. good choice of music for showing LA.

When you decide on this type of style you have to keep it moving, which I think for the most part you did. The only thing I noticed, and this isn't a criticism - just a different way of looking at it, you had a great frenetic pace going, most of the cuts worked well with the music, but I thought you went back to a couple of locations a few to many times. There might be a lot of good reasons for doing so, to show relatives on the balcony etc., but since I don't know then I don't care, at least not in the same way you do. When you use the same locations more than once it can come off as thought your stretching a bit instead of adding more exciting locations.

Again not intended as criticism, just kind of a style thing. I think what you did was great, almost makes me want to be in LA for the summer. Unfortunately I live here and can think of a lot of other places I'd rather be, but that's just me being jaded. Its certainly nice wtching your video on a rainy day like today.

Thanks for sharing, good work.

I liked seeing the band, not at all what I thought they would look like. But if your going to include them in the video you might think about distributing the shots of the throughout the video rather than having them all in their own section.

Also, I thought the shots of the kids at the planetarium were great. Which camera did you use there?

Does the HVX200 image mix well with the 7D?

Just out of curiosity, could you tell which shots were done with which camera?

Some of the earlier shots walking on the street seemed a bit contrasty and soft, same with the shots inside the museum, my guess would be that those were taken with the HVX200.

It seemed to me that the two cut together well and if it were important to you I'd think any differences in look could be managed in post. You might not be able to get them to match exactly but I'm not sure it would be so different as to be objectionable.

Seems like a good combination best of both worlds. CCD / CMOS ACTION / BIGPICTURES

Hey Chuck,

Thanks for the feedback. I feel you gave excellent points. Now that I look back and see the video from your perspective, I can see what you mean.

The band at the end is actually a completely different band. The band shown in the concert is "Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros" (amazing music btw). I edited in a way where I hopefully made you believe that they were singing the song. I opted not use the concert because I feel there's more footage that I really like, and would really like to see it paralleled with one of their songs in a roadtrip in South America.

Chuck pointed out the shots with HVX correctly.
