Shopping at Broadway Photo - http://www.bwayphoto.com/

I wouldn't give them a penny.
They have multiple companies running under different names.
(Broadway Photo, A&M Photo World LLC, Digital Liquidators, and possibly others)

Here's a picture of their storefront to give you an idea of who you're talking about:

And here are some reviews from Reseller Ratings:

http://www.resellerratings.com/store/Broadway_Photo

"I ordered a gps unit which was supposed to be new. The item I received appeared to be unused but upon trying to register the warranty I found someone had previously filled out the registration."

"Terrible bait-and-switch company."

"THEY LIE and MISREPRESENT EVERYTHING (hidden costs, misrepresented characteristics, ...)."

"These guys are scam artists and I had no idea that these resellers were linked until I came to writing this review. Some resellers linked with Broadway Photo had Sony HDR-SR8 camcorders for $749 - $1099, but when I called the resellers, they said that it was the China version and a U.S. version would costs $1500. These resellers were also very rude, transferred me back and forth to people when I called and played teenager phone games. These were I believe dummy resellers for Broadway Photo; part of their scam."

"when I told them that I only wanted the camera, they became hostile. Then they said the price I saw was for the Japanese model and it would cost $150 more for the US model! I tried placing orders with several other companies that, at the time, I didn't know they were all connected and I got the same runaround. Stay away from these people because they commit fraud every day."

"BEWARE of this operation! Cancelled a TV order after they added on $1000 for about $100 worth of extras to a $1500 TV. Even though cancelled, the TV was delivered anyway,"in error" and now they say they will not refund $400 of the $2500 billed to my credit card"

"broadway photo sales people are blatant liars and anyone who attempts to buy from them will either be ripped off or treated very badly or a combination of the two."

did you get a usa model or japan? did it include battery, cables, etc? did you get a rebate or whatever promotion was happenng at the time? just curious.

"

THAT is totally hilarious.
If you visit the store, would they take you hostage and contact your family for ransom? Certainly has that look to it.

Possibly.
But after your family agreed to the ransom they would have to call up to verify the transaction,
at which point they'd have to buy a bunch of overpriced accessories that should have come as part of the standard deal
or else they'll be told that you're no longer 'in stock.'

Oh, and should something go wrong your family probably wouldn't have any real recourse,
because the warranty on the kidnapping wouldn't be honored in the US.

:)
