T2i Shooting an Interview / Mixing w Sony 1000u

Normally I just shoot minimal video with my T2i, but I'm going to shoot an interview soon at work and they have a Sony HD1000u - capable of tape based HDV 1080i (1440x1080) and SD (reg and wide pixel).

Since I haven't shot a sit-down interview in a couple years - and since this is for web delivery only, I'm thinking of going just with the Sony. This is old news right -> but once you get in a situation where you need to record continuously and monitor levels, the T2i (unless you've got ML I suppose) becomes much less an option. Plus my video experience is just such that I suppose I should just make sure that one camera is set properly.

*If I do decide to try and shoot with both, what Sony format will play nicest with T2i 720? Editing on Prem CS5. Maybe I'll set up the Sony a bit wide and T2i for some closeups?

So funny, I haven't heard the whine of a MiniDV in so long!

I did an interview with a T2i and some sort of sony HDV cam I had gotten my hands on (used tape for HDV and also had a CF module on the back).

The footage intercut well - I left the sony on a tripod for the main cam and audio, and used the DSLR to get things like hand gestures, etc.

The main thing you need to do is shoot some tests and find the scene settings that look the closest in color, saturation, density, etc. And... if one cam is catching the subject and BG, and the other angle is getting a window, the sky, a different wall... it's much harder to intercut - even with identical cams. I did a lot of work to match footage, but I blew it on the background angles creating a very different feel on several shots.
