I highly doubt they're going to send people to your house to verify citizenship. If you have a US address and bought your camera in the US..then enter..
 
Jan, I have noticed some oddities pop up like videos becoming highly rated after just a couple of viewings, and a newly posted video which has over 22K views.
Just wondering... Does Panasonic choose the winners or?

5 minutes of hitting refresh will do wonders...I wish the site had a more unique counting system.

One 5 star vote equals 5 stars. Next add a 1 star vote you make 3 stars. It just averages all ratings from the start. They way stuff is rated and displayed can get abused very easily.

Also, some people got to embed Vimeo and Youtube files. I was contacted early by Panasonic to submit content and wasn't given a choice. Vimeo and Youtube embeds look way better than the compressed versions Panasonic uploaded for me.

Thankfully, voting isn't done by the public. So let these trigger happy yahoos get their jollies off with 100k+ views if it makes them feel better about themselves.

No disrespect to "highly viewed" videos, you might be playing fair, but you might have friends that think they are helping you out by giving you views.

IP control system would be nice.

Also, I see a lot of copy-written music being used. I'm pretty sure Panasonic does housekeeping from time to time.

Fun place to display work though! There are indeed some great pieces of work up there!

Am having the web manager look at that odd number, but please be assured that the top three winners in each category will be chosen by my team here at Panasonic. Doesn't matter how many views a video has.

Someone elses brand in a video showed without their permission.... I would have thought copy-righted music would have been more of an issue.

I got the following explanation from the folks doing the initial review.
"We are rejecting things that have blatant inclusion of 'brands' for which the videographers don't have permission to include because it would be a copyright violation and would be an area of legal exposure for Panasonic - i.e. if somebody uses a Lady Gaga song they don't have permission to use, or in this case it was a pack of Parliment cigarettes with the brand very visible. If something looks questionable we ask if the person has permission and if they don't we unfortunately can not feature the video."

So it is copyrighted material either Music or Name Brands.

I am only seeing 2 videos in the Nature & Wildlife. I was hoping mine might make it to the top 3

The video became a finalist and the music needed to be changed due to licensing issues. All good. Same edit new music. I should have done that in the first place but didn't really think it would get this far.

Congrats to all the finalist!

Maybe I'ill go to NAB after all. Speaking of NAB. I haven't been in years. Does DVXuser have a party or any events?

Erik, you got my vote, but being in Florida, there were a few issues with dangling chads and recounts... :huh: :undecided :shocked:

But after all that about US-only entries, it's a bit strange to see entries from Albania?
