Sharing p2 files between pc and mac

I've always worked on a pc and as of now all my footage is stored on an external hard drive, my question is whether or not I would be able to access and edit this footage(captured via pc) on a mac? The reason I ask is that I have to pick up a Macbook pro for school next year as everything will be done in final cut pro but would love to be able to work with all my current footage on it in the meantime. With that said is this possible and if so what all is involved? Cheers.
 
If you have the lastclip.txt file and CONTENTS folder intact, then those original MXF files can be shared by both platforms.
 
what kind of drive(s) are the files stored on?
for a mac the format must be fat 32 (as i understand) instead of ntfs which is common with pc.
