FS7: Share videos, test footage, etc.

There is a trick if you are on a mobile device and can't see a video.
Quote the post and then the link will come up and you can copy it and paste it into your browser.
A bit tedious, but at least it works

Here are a few grabs from a job I'm currently shooting. Hopefully I can share the finished film in the new year.

All shot CineEI with LC709TypeA LUT applied via Lumetri in Premiere.

Thanks for posting Liam.

This in my honest opinion is the best set of stills I've seen from the FS7 so far. I'd love to see this stuff in motion. I'm still wrestling with my own Slog tests and seeing this just inspires confidence.

Thanks Surinder, much appreciated:-)

Looks great Liam, thanks for sharing.

How are you liking the FS7 image compared to your C300 (I believe you're a C300 user, correct)? I know many people love the out of box look of the C300. What's your views on the FS7 out of the box look? Or do you mainly shoot Log then apply a LUT?

Thanks again

Also...what is your opinion about the perceived sharpness from the 4K to 1080P when compared to the C300's 1080P. Just curious.

I like them compositionally and subjects etc - but the grade looks a bit grey to me - you are using an official sony LUT?

For me, the FS7 offers far more possibilities than the C300. If you ignore the 4K and HFR, the 10bit codec puts it in a different class to the C300. Iris wheel and WB are better on the C300 though...

Everything I've shot for pay on the FS7 over the past six weeks has been in CineEI mode. I've been testing Custom mode, and I'll certainly be using that on quick turn around jobs.

4K image at 1080 is sharper for sure. I'm using it a lot on landscapes with deep depth of field. In fact I'm loving everything about shooting 4K for 1080 delivery, everything except the data rate! I've got two 128GB cards and they get eaten up in the blink of an eye shooting over cranked 4K.

To be fair, the jpgs don't do the images justice. They have plenty enough punch , and plenty enough saturation. The last two were shot at dusk, it was actually quite dark in reality

All are a quick drag and drop grade on the laptop using LC709TypeA LUT except the last two where there's no LUT. and just the three-way. A proper colourist will do the real grade. I'm looking forward to testing the SLog2 with FilmConvert - that should work great.

Lenses were; Canon 85mm f/1.2, Canon 15-35 f/2.8, Canon 70-200 f2.8, Canon 35mm f/1.4, next three are the 70-200mm and the final one is Samyang 14mm Cine. All on a Metabones Speedbooster Ultra.

So tonight was 'vox' night on my little project, learning from last week (where my shots were under) I tried bruttally to watch the WFM shooting custom Slog and resist the temptation to stop down due to the very bright image on screen.

Set up, deep dusk, Dled 4.1 on 1/4 power or less.
Slog Custom
5500k -17magenta
4000 ISO NR on MED
50 at 2.8 or 4 with booster.
Post - one Lut LC709 in resolve.

Im certainly not seeing unnaceptable noise for a battery lit 'night shoot'. Happy.
