SGpro100Brev3

I finally got my SGpro100Brev3 a week ago, but my lens arrived at a different location that I was no longer at so I got to wait a week till I got home and put my lens onto the end of it. I basically just stared at the rig without the lens sitting on my desk, totally depressed that I couldn't even use it. To make things less cool, after taking it apart and packing it up to go home, I noticed a spec of something under one of the glasses in it. I emailed Wayne and he recommended leaving it there unless it affected the footage so I did, and I am yet to notice anything in my footage.

The adapter is so much solider than I was expecting, and it made my rig heavier than I expected as well so I have a Cavision set of handles and shoulder mount on the way that I won off Ebay for 115USD which is a steal. Hopefully that will take some weight off my fat weak arms.

By the time I had it all running, it was pitch black out, and my families house is very dimly lit, so my indoors footage is a little less nice to look at, but still loads better than stock DVX footage. The outside footage is much nicer I would say.

I actually forgot to turn the adapter on for some shots so you will see some grain most likely. Some other shots I boosted the grain cause the inside of my home is so dark. And I hand held it all cause I forgot my sticks so its shakey as sin. It was hard to frame with it flipped.

Enjoy

Wow man that... is impressive! REALLY makes me want one... wait, the SG doesnt flip the image back to its correct way?

Thanks Dory, I am still trying to get the hang of it. It does not flip the image to how it should be. They sell a gizmo that does that though, it would be very handy but I need a LCD sometime soon anyways which would probably help a lot.

nice video.
it looks like you waited for a long time and finally got it hu!!!
so how do you like your SGpro? worth the wait? happy with it?

I like the SGpro very much. I am very impressed with my images, and its only the first day and I haven't a clue as to what I am doing with it. It is a great tool and will come in handy.

Dory - Yeah the new Letus flips the image for you, the older models did too I believe. The Extreme has a real nice image, but is out of my price range.

good to know you like it! I wish I had the SGpro too, but I already have the M2....

yeah, the letus extreme is a cool adapter too. it's really good because it flips the image and doesn't have much light loss.
I can tell you from my experience that the filp will make your work so much easy.
When I got my M2 I really didn't care about the image being upside down, but after shooting and editing lots of footage, I can tell you it starts to get really annoying. I thought I wouldn't mind before I got my adapter, but once you start doing it, you realize.....
hope that helps

(you can still get the flip on the SGpro & M2 tho)

Yeah the SGpro flip was like 400USD or more, I can't remember what it converted out to be. I would rather put that money towards a nice monitor instead. It is times like these I wish I had a job...

what settings is your dvx at? you should try playing around with the detail levels master ped etc. also, you can always get an external LCD to make shooting easier. i own an sgpro and i love it. hope to see more footage!

Hi Steven, great shots.

In the last few shots where the GG is not spinning, it looks like you have OIS turned on because the grain moves relative to the edge of the frame. You should turn off OIS when using an adapter.

the adapter will soften the image a little so it's better to rise the detail level.

getting the LCD will help a lot when your shooting but still you get the image upside down......I guess it's just me but, I hate doing the adding
"Flop" filter every single time I do something in FCP.... even when you get stills from the movie, it's upside down again so I just go "hhhhaaaaaa".....

Yeah I havent started messing around with in camera settings yet, I think it was just on the standard 24pa file. I plan on experimenting more.

Thanks for the tip Wayne

Very nice footage here:)

Congratulations with the SGpro! It's just awesome isn't it? :D

I'm wondering, what kind of shutter did you use?

Thanks Tomas
I think I had it at 1/48 when I was inside to make it as bright as I could get it because my house is sort of dark. Outside I experimented with the shutter, iris and the lens' f stops. I don't know what shutter it was on for outdoors, probably 1/250 with the iris adjusted. I think I played with the ND filter too
