SGblade

Yes, the collimation ring finely adjusts the distance between the 35mm lens and the GG.

The X/Y adjustment is apart of the flip module section.

wayne,
the question is :why you have to loose the lens mount to rotate the collimation ring??you cannot turn the collimation ring if the lens mount is fixed??in letus ultimate you can turn the collimation ring when lens mount is fixed and use the screws on the collimation ring to stop it.
in sgpro mount instead the screw on the collimation ring have their function only when the mount is removed from the adapter??
instead when the mount is on the adapter what is that block the turning of the collimation ring?? are the 3 screws on the flange??

Well if you adjust collimation then it is like making the amount of turns you put into the mount screws higher or lower. I mean they both deal with the distance between the plate that has the mount screws and the adapter casing. I wonder how Letus does that and if it works without any drawbacks.

Wayne when will you have some footage ready ? Also are you going to be making a rod support bracket for the adapter ?

I am a avid Letus fan. I love my Extreme, but I am not thrilled that my only upgrade path is 4500.00 adapter. I understand the reasons for the higher price, but IF blade can offer low light loss at a price that is not 3x the cost of my extreme. You could have my business.

I suspect you could have that of many Extreme users who are gun shy of the 4500 Ultimate.

Make the price right and you might see a whole wealth of migrating Letus owners.

SO make the price right....

I agree, Letus might start to feel the burn on this one. As many Ultimate advocates have stated; Letus can charge whatever they want, this is America! But at the same time is the consumers who ultimately drive the market and I think a lot of people have been put off by an upgrade costing over three times the price of the original for what basically amounts to a larger motor and a spinning disk. Yes, the results are spectacular and its probably the best thing out there, but when you see it all disected in that autopsy its not terribly impressive. Kudos to them for holding off on the use of hot glue this time around, but stil...
Ok, Rant over, I'm looking forward to seeing how the competition stacks up.

Here's the link to the autopsy: http://35mmadapter.blogspot.com/2008/07/letus-ultimate-price.html

Hi Wayne.

I don't know if this has been answered somewhere already (didn't find anything about it) but can the SGPro Blade be seen at IBC this year?

Thanks

Peter

I gotta say all the sour grapes about the cost of the Letus Ultimate strike me as childish. The Le brothers spent alot of money on R&D and it cost them a lot to make it. They're pricing it at what they can afford to and stay in business and they know what market they're after. They were advised to charge more by other business people. If you want something cheaper they're giving you that alternative. Stop whining. You should be thrilled you have so many alternatives. I can't afford it either but I don't begrudge them the right to earn a living and produce a quality product. If you think you can make something as good that's cheaper be my guest.

Meanwhile Wayne seems to be determined to deliver something around $2K that sounds similar so all I can say is great. Will it be as great as the Ultimate - I don't know but if it comes close at half the price we are all just incredibly lucky. Dennis claims to have a great relay just around the corner. Count your blessings guys.

I feel incredibly thrilled to have so many alternatives. I think the Le brothers are super rad and have produced a great product. I will be trading up my LEX once I have another large enough project to swallow the overhead, unless of course something else comes along doing the exact same thing for less. What I'm saying is I'm very excited about the alternatives and think the end of 2008 should be interesting.
