this is SGblade Thread.

SGblade spec--------------------

Spinning GG design, using a smaller GG
Choice of GG type upon order.
-GG Choice1: Real glass disk, resulting in low light loss and grainless.
-GG choice2: Current SGpro element - better bokeh (the famous SGpro look/aesthetic).
Special coatings on every optical surface (including GG) in order to improve light loss.
Custom CNC'ed curved enclosure, much smaller than current SGpro.
Film plane 'tape measure' hook.
Internal power
Adjustable GG speed.
All mounts having collimation 'on the fly'
Convert lens mounts to stainless steel.
Improved rods support system (replace shims with sliding assembly) with 'shoot35 red' anodized thumbscrews.
X/Y adjustment for the flip module section.

This unit will be launched first as 'flipped only' with plans to add 'nonflip' kit and bundles soon after. We will also be offering a choice without the rods support if you already have one.

GG choice 1 will have the least light loss with the ability to stop down to F22 and/or use high shutter speeds without seeing grain.

Please feel free to ask any questions regarding the Blades design and operation.

When can I order SGblade?

When can I order SGblade?

When can I order SGblade?
2008summer, 2008winter, or 2009?

how well will the ex1 mate with it, also when can we see an achro for the sgpro without flip for the ex1?

Jon,

The EX1 will connect to the Blade in the same way as the SGpro.

The parts needed to use the SGpro non flipped with the EX1 are currently in the hands of the machine shop, it may take anywhere up to 4 weeks - I hate machine shop lead times :D

that is a good question. If we can keep the old style SGpro Rev3, with the newer coated GG, have the same light loss as the blade due to that improvement, then depending on the blade's price, it might make more sense to get the sgpro rev4

The new glass disk will only be available in the Blade, it is a smaller disk not suitable for the SGpro. Also, total lightloss is not only due to the GG, it is also due to the coatings on every optical surface, which is not cheap. This would increase production costs and we want to keep the SGpro at its current price (£299 for the non flipped SGpro).

I smell competition for the Letus Ultimate. This calls for a shoot-out! Lightloss and sharpness are the issues that is probably be the hardest to match... But price-wise it's an absolute winner! Can't wait!

We hope to get footage up next month.

If it's possible can you shoot someone in exteriour/interior shots with the Blade?

because I don't like footage that only show TestCharts.
I perfer real world type of footage and I like to get the overall feeling.

that would really help. if it's possible....
