GH3 Serious Problem with GH3 1080p 60fps files

So basically I'm just supposed to switch to another NLE after all of my years of experience with FCP plus all of my licensed programs I have bought for it? Finally many people I work with in the industry still use FCP, honestly people stay on topic and only bring something of use to this thread.....

...Yes, because Apple is not planning any real future for FCP, so it's going to keep falling behind as new CODECs and file-formats become the norm.

With any luck FCPX will eventually grow to become a viable replacement for everything that FCP can do, but the full transition may take several years.

All of the FCP editors that I work with are now using both FCP and some other editor to get their work done. ( for some it's FCPX, for others it's Premiere CS6 )

I'm thinking of maybe slowly trying to switch to CS6 or FCx, not sure yet. Thing is CS6 I believe would work well with After Effects and Photoshop so that is a plus. But also I have used apple Motion 5 with great success as well and that works with FCX, man I don't know........

Instead of using the transitions or getting another NLE, try manually key-framing the opacity. I'm surprised no one mentioned this yet. Won't take very long to do either.

My apologies for not stating this, but that was actually the first thing I tried..... Where I wanted it to fade I just key framed it from 100 to 0 (ending of cliP and the same thing is happening. Since then since it is a fast beat song I just have done a straight cut, but I know sooner or later I need to figure this out or just do what I did. Basically converted the h.264 in Compressor to Pro Res and conformed it to 23.98 simultaneously. [h=1][/h]

i shoot a lot of video in my new gh3 in .mov format 50Mbps.
But in fcpx (mbp 2011 - 16gb ram - ssd) i cant play smoothly those files…. a lot of stuttering.
avc intra plays fine, so as gh2 files i have (in very high bit rate - driftwood hack).

Anyone else can confirm this ?
I dont transcode any files , just import them in native format… i cant wait for transcodig big files.

Curious as to why your shooting 60p instead of 40% slomo?

Well honestly, Habits I guess? I also sometimes like shooting 1080 60fps and conforming one version to slow motion and using another version as a performance. I actually like the way it looks in a 24p timeline. Also the clips that I have in the timeline I just replaced with conformed versions done through compressor and now the dissolves work perfect.

AVCHD and IBP formats need a lot more processing power to decompress ( they use higher compression to store more detail in a small size files ), which is why they will stutter if your computer can't decompress them in real-time.

I-frame and some high bit-rate GH2 patches use less compression, so playback is smooth because less CPU power is required to play these files.

Then transcode to proxies and edit. When done, throw away proxies.

i dont think its a problem of cpu power… because Premiere cs6 plays them fine.
Avid an fcpx has problems with those files.

Can anyone confirm that ?

CS6 may be using your graphics card ( GPU ) to decompress the files in real-time ( makes a huge difference with the right video card ), where AVID and FCPX only have the CPU to use.

One wishes Avid (and Apple for that matter) would build CUDA support in. At least with Avid you can gain a boost using Quadro cards.

FCPX does use the graphics card when the correct one is present.

"Final Cut Pro uses the high-speed GPU on the graphics card for effects previews and rendering, so you can work with richer effects in real time. The GPU also enables background exporting, allowing you to deliver projects while editing."
