Hi! I have sennhauser me66 for gh2 and I put aa battery for phantum power. Not bad! But how could I know if battery dying? What would audio sound like? Turn on and off all the time? Crackling? Or just will suddenly turn off?

Sennheiser, just FYI. Also, the internal AA battery is not the same as phantom power.

You may hear a drastic reduction in output from the mic, or you may hear crackly/slightly distorted audio. Or both. Or you may lose signal altogether. But you will hear a marked change in the sound. If you are using the battery power option and the sound goes bad, always check the battery and the cable first. Those are the two most likely culprits.

The battery should last you a while, but make sure that it is removed when the mic is not in use.

problem number one with this scenario is that you'll be running the mic into a device of which you cannot monitor the audio. so you will not know till after the fact if your battery has died. but i guess if you put a fresh AA in it every time you shoot, or take it out when you're not shooting and testing it with a battery tester you should be OK.

This is easy - when you switch the K6 on, a red light will flash - if it flashes brightly, then the battery is fine - if it flashes dim, the battery needs replacing (if it doesn't flash at all, the battery should have been replaced ages ago).

This is all in the Owners Manual, of course.

No need - it's all built into the K6 - if the light flashes bright the mic. will be fine for the shoot - if it flashes dim it needs replacing (though you may get away with a short shoot, but I wouldn't risk it).

The battery in a K6 will last about 600 hours, so it's a total waste to replace it every shoot - especially when the K6 has a built-in battery tester that works every time you switch it on.
