C300: Selling c300- how much to ask?

This is a pristine c300 with only 120 hours on it. Need to sell it and wondering what a range of prices might be?

my usual starting point for selling anything is to go to ebay and run a search, and then view all completed auctions and see what they have been actually selling for. then just run a general google search for c300 for sale, to see if any sold on any forums, etc...

last i recall they were going for around 12K, but i wouldn't be certain at the moment. With this level of camera, as long as it's a small chunk less than new and you keep it like new, it should attract someone.

Rather, forget all of what i just said. it's actual true blue book value is $4500, PM me and i'll moneygram you that over right away and you can ship it out for me monday. Yea, that's definitely the real answer, i swear....

I guess 13K will be too close to the 14K price of the new. 12 K may be fine. 10k will be a steal. How come selling it so soon?

Try using percentage. It's easier to figure out. Maybe 15% to 20% off what you paid for it. This way you have a better understanding of the overall loss. If you made money with the camera factor that in. Helps you sleep at night. :)

I wouldn't really say 10k is a steal. I had opportunity to buy a mint, local one for 10k, and I passed. The seller dropped it to 9k and I no longer see the ad.

I think 10k shipped on the web is a different story and should sell reasonably quickly.

Just my opinion but there's not a lot of them out in the wild at this point. 10k would be quite generous online I think.

Do a search... how many can you actually find for sale?

$13k including shipping. $13.5K If your selling with a couple of additional standard batteries and cards.

You need to be a little patient when selling and ignore stupid offers like $10K or less.

I generally never buy used without getting at least 15-20% off of the new price. Don't forget that warranty does matter and there is no accounting for how something has been used. So for me buying a 14K camera used, should be maximum somewhere around 12K. I think that is a fair and reasonable price. However, the newness of the product does come into account. I just bought a new Sony F3 at a liquidation sale and I got it for 7000 Euros. I thought that was an amazing price for a 14k camera. The next week the F5 and F55 were announced. I now see used versions going for 4200 Euros. It's all relative.

I'd say 13K a little on the high side considering you can buy a new one for 14K. There is substantial risk for the buyer with used gear. That risk has to be worthwhile. Also PL mount is less sought after. If you want a quick sale you'd might have to lower it versus an EF mount which has more universal appeal. I'll echo some others, if I were buying used I doubt I would go over 12K and that would be no slam dunk. That $2000 for peace of mind and warranty would be worth it.

I agree with this. Especially when the earlier C300s aren't as dust proof as later, and you may have to consider a service cleaning in the price of the used one.

$10,500 for a previously owned C300 is a fair price (based on actual used prices I've seen on Craigslist and completed auctions on ebay). I almost purchased a C100 from a forum member. I decided not to once I called Canon Hollywood and Canon Irvine. They CONFIRMED the warranty was NOT transferable. I ended up buying new (at the current discounted rate)!!! You have to take into consideration it is still USED with NO WARRANTY! $14,000 minus 25% = $10,500 (that's your selling price)!!! 25% off the new price is fair!!! Oh yeah, someone mentioned the dust issue (if the camera hasn't been sent in for the fix, I'd only pay $9500.....

It wouldn't be wise to spend over 9-9.5k for a used C300 at this point. You can find 'em on ebay once in a while when they pop up, relatively new with even less hours than yours for under 10k. Although, you might find someone who would pay over 10k if they don't know how to use ebay or online marketplaces in general.

How does the warranty work in your country? Do you fill up the warranty card at the time of purchase? If warranty card is not filled up then anyone can use it right?

You actually go online to complete registration. I don't think I've filled out an actual warranty card in years (Canon, Sony or Panasonic products).
