seeing dead people

Well, gosh, yes, what are the chances of someone in a hospital thinking someone died, and then someone in the hospital actually dies later?

Sorry. :) I just don't see anything remotely creepy.

one person seeing or thinking someone died isn't that unusual. maybe she was just confused. but for a second patient to be crying and mumbling about how she hates seeing dead people right after the other patient died... that would give me the shivers.

But I wouldn't jump to conclusions that she meant she saw a ghost. I'd expect that if she's been in the hospital for more than a few days she's seen at least several dead people -- but not ghosts. Or maybe even just one, but that was enough. Maybe she looked in the room next door, or saw her wheeled out?

Hahaha, it would be easy to jump to that conclusion. But James Randi warned me about things like that. :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

i don't know what she saw, but you've got to admit it is a weird coincidence. no one has died on my wife's floor during her shift in months. and then two different people mention about someone dying...who knows maybe they were just hallucinating.

David, do you really have to ruin the fun? Come on now.

Hey, I've seen creepy stuff. For three years in college, I lived in the former bedroom of the woman who built the house in the 1870s, and several people who lived in that room in years past told me stories about the various ways she told them she didn't want them in the room. While I was there, it was the only room in the house that a bat would get into (at least once a year), even though the windows were sealed shut and it was behind two fire doors which were always closed.

So, I'm down with the creepy. I just don't find this all that. :) :cheesy:

That person should be happy. (the person that saw the ghost). It means there's actually something beyond death! Well, no more crying over dying! "Life" goes on!

OK, it changes the equation a little if people don't die that often. But when you said no one had died "that day," it made it seem as though it was a rare day.

so does anyone have any stories of the paranormal they want to share?

 :engel017:

But how often did people mumble about someone dying?

Maybe the mumbling only got noticed and remembered on a day when there was a death to match up to it and therefore a reason to recall it.

Horse s#!t! Ghosts were human, Demons and elementals are considered inhuman entities, they were never human. Poltergeists would also be inhuman, and most consider them to be psycho kinetic manifestations as opposed to an intelligent entity.

The whole "No ghosts, only Demons" thing is the consensus of some Holy people, who feel that just about anything they don't understand is evil... sort of along the lines of the witch hunts. Some Churches will also deny the existence of Demons, which means the Bible is incorrect, kind of biting the hand that feeds you.

As an amateur theologian for years, and studying Greek and Hebrew to thoroughly investigate the bible, I can tell you the reason some people (myself included) do not believe in ghosts being the spirits of human beings is from the following biblical quote"

Paraphrase: "It is appointed once for man to die - after that is the judgement"

Hence, most fundamentalist Christians take this verse in it's correct context to suggest that one a person dies, he is judged and goes where God wills. He does not return to earth.

Now I know these things are real - I have experienced hauntings and strange experiences. I do not need to be convinced. I believe in almighty God and his word more, though, which leads me to believe that these manifestations must be some trick of the devil or plain old evil power - what good purpose do they serve???

Being the biblical scholar though, there are two examples I can think of that hurt my theory....

1. Saul visited the witch of Endor and asked her to call up the ghost of Samuel, with which he spoke. Was this really Samuel's ghost or an evil manifestation??

2. When the apostles were in the boat on the sea of Galilee and saw Jesus walking across the water, they said to themselves that they had seen a spirit. Jesus responded by saying "be of good cheer, it is I" - sometimes you need to look at what the bible doesn't say as much as what it does say: he did not say to them...there are no such things as spirits!!!!

So whereas I believe every word the bible says over what I know, I still have no explanation for the manifestations I and others have experienced. I am convinced, however, that they cannot be from God, mainly form all the supporting verses that speak of demons, how they roam the earth causing trouble unto the day of judgment.

Biblically speaking, demons fit the mold of ghosts far better than dead people do. Their powers, manifestations, and capabilities are almost the same, in fact.

Just my opinion.

Ghosts can be scary when they catch you off guard, and they can be annoying, but they are harmless.

That's been my general experience. My grandparents former home had a couple ghosts, but they were nice, almost playful occasionally. If anything was moved it was put back shortly. I was pretty young when I would stay there, and I got scared once in a while, but then I learned to just talk to them when I could tell one was in the room with me, and then my fear subsided quickly.

Great topic by the way.

1) Ok, so they don't return to Earth. This is the reason the mediums tell them to cross over, because they never made it. Maybe it is punishment for a less than perfect life? Maybe they are afraid of meeting judgement... who knows for sure?

2) Keep in mind, the Bible was written by MAN, not God, and man is prone to mistakes and embellishments. This is particularly true when man is translating ancient languages.

3) If you ever had the opportunity to experience a ghost and then a demon, you would notice differences in the activity.

Horse ... ha ha ha! That's EXACTLY what I was thinking! It kinda takes the spooky out of it, eh?

Here's my experience: I was brought up in a charismatic community (church, not neighborhood). I attanded a university that followed the same doctrine. Ghosts were never really discussed (unless it was the Holy Ghost. "Can I get an 'Amen'? Hallelujah"). That was, until one day. I was asleep in my dorm room, and it was around 5AM. Suddenly I woke up scared out of my mind. Almost as though I'd had a bad dream and it was still affecting me. I didn't have any dreams, though. I was facing the wall, and I felt a presence in the room (other than my roommates), and I slowly turned toward the door. As I did, I saw a black figure at the doorway (which was next to my bed) standing there. Then, I saw it walk through the room. When I say black figure, that's the best way for me to describe it. It actually wasn't so much "black" as it was a void of anything. It was a void where this 'person' would be. Imagine something darker than a completely crushed black. I watched it walk through our room, and through the wall opposite the door. Just ... gone. I didn't fall back asleep.
Later that day, a girl told me in confidence that she woke up about 5AM that morning. She felt something wasn't 'right,' so she began to pray for safety. A few others woke up that morning with similar stories. Take that for what you will.
