Alright guys, i'm working on a music video for a band called, "5 Years and Counting"

you can find them here: www.myspace.com/5yearsandcounting

they told me (the band) a few things they want to change and i already know what i am changing and what is wrong with this video, so i want to get your guys input.
I already have my mind set what i am changing, and what i am taking out etc. Also we are filming a story part to add on top of this so DON"T think this is the full video. It's just a rough rough rough edit. Also the band hasn't released this video yet so keep it under the wraps that i am letting you guys see this!Let me know what you guys think.Go easy i'm only 17! JUST KIDDING JUST KIDDING! I won't use my age as an excuse for a poor video.
Thanks

there is nothing poor about this IMHO....i love the slow edits, the aspect ratio, the grading, the focus....i do. what i can't get over (nothing to do with you) is the over-intentional hairdo's those guys have. they fight with it like someone people fight with flies on their faces, and it's a huge distraction. i know they wanna put forth the proper emotion, but it's almost a parody of the genre, and i kind of chuckled at a few parts.

Ryan, you have a great talent, and i remember a while back in another thread i asked you how you afford all your equip (at your age, blah blah...enough of that haha)...your answer no longer surprises me. you deserve it. best to you and your fam.

thank you Chris! I truly appreciate your reply! Your honestly too kind but still thank you. Glad it looks appealing beyond the vain hair flips.
:)

thank you! They are working with a new sponsor they just got and possibly they can get this video if it looks good enough for them to be on Fuse TV. That would be beyond amazing so i hope so.
Any other thoughts still welcome of course...:)

The stock reply is usually, "Nice job. Presets? compression settings?"

Myself, I'm always interested in what everyone used for lighting, especially on a low budget. Care to elaborate? Like on the tighter shots of the singer around 1:12. Just wondering.

Great job on your part. Not interested in the music, but it looks good. On that note....the band is gonna kill you, I'm telling that you released the link! :Drogar-Evil(DBG):

They'll like it man, for what they'd want it's probably perfect so don't worry there.

it seems like at 0:49 you have a frame that flashes..i don't know if that was on purpose or accident, just wanted to let you know.

Good job though, i like the song.

Thanks!
The singer parts where it's dark around him of course is night time out there in the tall grasslands. I had a 650 softbox to his left slightly bleeding on his face, it was facing in front of him more than on him. The a small 500watt worklight about 10ft away doing the fill on his right side a little behind/beside him to add a seperating line of his shoulder. That's it for those shots.
You better not tell them!! You'll never work in this town again if you do! haha.

Thanks again

thanks! Yeah there was a small frame glitch right there. I will massage that kink out in editing.

Wow. Very impressive and inspiring to say the least! I am on a similar budget with similar equipment (A1, cheap lighting, etc) and am currently working on pre-vis/storyboarding for music video I plan to shoot this summer. It's inspiring and encouraging to see what you've done with this video!

Was this shot without a 35mm adapter?

Also, good luck with the Fuse TV pickup. That'd be great!

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Dalton!
Good to see people still hold faith in their a1's still and use them. Goodluck with your shoot in the summer. You sound very organized when it comes to your projects, so i am sure your production will run smoothly.
Some was shot without adapter. The scene where the lead vocalist is outside in the tall grass area in the dark by himself was without. also the shot of the lead vocalist walking across the screen where he is outside the house is without. Everything else is Lex with a Nikon 50mm.
Hopefully Fuse will pick it up! :)
It won't be for months though.
