Could there be a performance difference between 4GB, 8GB, 16GB, and 32GB cards in the same brand, series, and class? I've been using 4GB so I can back up each card to DVD, but thinking the higher bitrate will lower recording time I'm not thinking of getting 16GB or 32GB cards and backing up to portable USB drives. Any thoughts?

Kit lens and manual lens (Zeiss ZF)... same result.Barry - are you recording with the kit lens when using the Panny 4gb class 10 card? In my initial testing, recording with my Nikon AIS lens worked better than with the kit lens
I have an Extreme III 4GB card, it fails just like all my others. I don't have a SanDisk Extreme, which has the 30MB/S printed on it. That would be my next hope.Barry, did you test Sandisk Extreme III 16GB Class 10? Tom's Hardware tests show that as the fastest average, max, and minimum with higher scores than you're reporting for the Panasonic card. Maybe those would work? I'm about to order some of those and patch my firmware.

I just bought a 32gig Patriot Class 10 card. It'll arrive this week along with my GH1. I haven't seen any results from testing with that card yet. Should I have gotten a different card?
Tons of write speed errors with my new Sandisk Extreme 8GB card today. Definitely not the direction I hoped to be moving in :furious3:
I was shooting stuff that would really stretch the codec (crazy detailed nature scenes in deep focus on the 14mm GH1 lens), so not a total surprise but still disappointing.
My settings were the typical "D" AVCHD settings. I had Pappas's 1440 MJPEG settings as well with 4:2:2 but that was a total no-go, lucky to get a couple seconds recorded before quitting, so I focused on AVC 1080p. Back to the drawing board...
Also should mention, it's a sweltering 94 degrees outside here today, with humidity of about 50%, so maybe that's stressing the camera as well.
