Score!!!!!

OH MY GOD THIS LENS IS AMAZING, IRRESPECTIVE OF THE MAX F STOP!!!!!!!

I just went on to Flickr, where I always go to get a perspective on how good a lens I'm considering is. This is what I found - click the link.

I want one, and I can't damned well afford one, but I might just sell my Lumix 14-140mm for this lens as it is THE BEST lens I've seen for 4/3 system. Period.

Do I sound irrational? Probably.

Well that's why we're all jazzed about it! The fact that it's hyper-fast is a bonus.

But just so everyone knows, this is a totally, utterly, completely manual lens. No auto-anything, no electronic anything, no image stabilization, nothing like that...

Aren't all the best lenses? In my collection, all the best lenses are fully manual.

This Voightlander reminds me of some Leica M glass I've seen, particularly in the bokeh, and also the legendary Minolta Rokkor PG 58mm f1.2 - soft, creamy bokeh. Yummm.

man i want this so bad someone plz tell me when it comes out, where and how mucH? i can't find any info on it other than previews nad such on google!`

by the way same here my reaction. i odnt even care about fstop i'd be happy with 1.2 it's the image quality that is utterly blowing me away with this lens!

The lens is already out, but it sells out immediately. I had to prepay in full to guarantee getting one. You can see a review on Bloom's site where he proclaims it his new favorite lens, the one lens he'd take with him if he was stranded on a desert island, etc...

Hey Homunculus,

You can put down a $100 deposit with Camera Quest, but you might get bumped into the next shipment (I did), so you might be waiting till February or longer (but they do offer a $50 discount for waiting).

Alternately, you can go to the PhotoVillage site and put yourself on their e-mail notification list:

Good luck beating everyone else to it when all those notifcations go out. :-)

Or you can do what I did, which is pay the whole $915 to PhotoVillage up front. That automatically puts you in front of everyone else who's only on the notification list.

+1. That's what I did and ended up #1 on the list and my lens is on its way to me. I imagine Barry was #2 on the list. Either way, we both pre-paid in full and our lenses are on the way to us.

Easily. Barry Lyndon was shot on 1960's-era 100 ISO film stock. Technically you could probably shoot Barry Lyndon 2 on the kit lens, at 3200 ISO, run Neat Video on it, and get comparable sensitivity.
lol neat video. i don't even want to know how mushy that would look. comparable sensitivity but comparable sharpness/resolution? LOL

I have one on order for the Feb shipment from Cameraquest. However, Adorama is now taking orders for them. They say mid-December delivery even though it's a bit past mid-December. Go figure.

got confirm of my voightlander....what nice christmas present....even though there should be coal in my stocking

Hehe  Sometimes it´s cool to live in Germany. We are walking knee deep in Noctons.
