Sci-fest - The Prizes and Rules

I like what I hear so far. I went ahead and PM'd you Chris ... probably buried now in a stack of PM's from interested parties.

I'm 99% positive Jarred/Barry wouldn't have a problem with it. Spidey nailed it with the fact that the same composers are used for many different films, sometimes with the same films with nominations for awards.

Just joking -- but I think you can -- but I don't really know for sure :)
 
you can, just make sure it all shot with the DVX for plates or whatever footage. now if all character are cgi on plates the entire time, then probably not.

jk...im shooting on a crappy ass sony handycam dating back to like 1999...my first camera.

I cant even do CGI for myself..nevermind anyone else...omg...LOL!...i jus created this really stupid looking alien...too bad i cant post a pic of it....this is ridiculous.

we should change the contest to something that doesnt involve CGI so like a majority of us dont get raped when in post production..:evil:
 
well that's why I keep harping on the Twilight Zone and the X Files as legitimate members of the genre.

But I've spent all day making planets crash into each other -- no CGI, just stock footage and motion -- which reminds me -- I need to go try to find some cheap stock footage of Earth -- like 6 seconds ...
 
Jack, if you can't find one, let me know ... I've got some stock footage ... various ones with clouds, no clouds, stars in BG, etc.

By the way ... while we are at it...

Jarred and Barry -- I know we can't promote -- but could for example I send a clip to Envision with my mock up using the watermarked footage I dowloaded to exp with so that he would really get an idea of what I'm looking for (I could just send him a grab I guess) ...

But my larger question -- is it permissable to privately send a section you are working on to a few friends to get help on? I think Barry worked in John's script some - but i can see how this might be different.

But there have been times I've thought - I wish I could just show this part to so and so and ask them about it, etc.

Yeah, CGI and SFX, are tough. I am not even near being able to do anything even decent, when it comes to that!
 
Looks like im gonna have to rely on sounds and shadows for my movie..cuz this CGI is really looking pathetic.

100 bucks wasted on a CG program and i cant even produce decent looking results...DAMN IT!!!
Ive had the program for like 4 months too..and I work on things like everyweekend for like 4 hours.

BAH!!!...i officially give CG artists a big high five for their work..cuz its like soo freakin hard!!

Right now, I'm looking at close to 15 - 20 visual effects/CGI shots in my entry.

Post an ad in Craig's List to see if any CGI/FX artists want to add a short film to their resume/portfolio. I just did that tonight & have already rec'd a response from someone who's eager. 'Course I've got to see some samples of what they've done ...
 
This Sci Fi should be interesting to watch ..CGI no CGI .
Why back out or even think of it . GEEEZ mine is as simple as one can get .
If you thought my Zombie short was bad ...wait til you see my Sci-Fi ..lmao

Yeah it's going to be interesting to the broad spectrum of effects. We have some beginners here (not a bad thing at all) and then we have a few geniuses who are going to blow us away with stunning visual effects.
