Sangung NX1

Actually, quite a few, to the point where Samsung's own transcode seems superfluous.

EditReady is well worth the fifty bucks… mac only though. Batch processing, multiple batches, and it will conform frame rates and resize.

I have found that it's reasonably fast, but if you resize UHD to 1080, it crawls. I've been converting and conforming, but not scaling - after the batch is done, I'll use MPEG Streamclip to resize the UHD clips - it's much faster at resizaing. I don't know if I'm saving much time that way (I think its probably significant though), but on my 2009 Mac pro, EditReady brings the mac to its knees and I can barely open an email. At least when Streamclip is running, I can work. So I end up with the original samsung cards (H265 and pretty small), UHD and 1080 folders, which is handy for punching in or if you need to motion track or stabilize any shots. (I do see a lot more archive disks in my future though.)

So I highly recommend having your boot drive on an SSD and using a RAID for your footage.

Anyone notice NX1 prices in the US this week? Back to entry-day levels. WTF, Samsung? (At least I saved $3-400 by buying before xmas…)

I've used Rocky Mountain Movie Converter since I've gotten my nx1 in june and haven't felt the need to get anything else.

It's free and it works well, I haven't had the need for anything more.
