Sandisk 16GB questions?

Just wanted to confirm that either one of these will work, the class six doesn't make a difference?

Sandisk 16GB Extreme III SDHC Memory Card Class 6, Fast 20MB/sec($85ea)

vs.
SanDisk Ultra II 16GB/15MB SDHC Card, Fast 14MB/sec($38ea)

:dankk2:

Ultra II is fine since the adaptors/camera don't take advantage of the extreme speed of the Extreme III. I would personally go with the Transcend cards.

wouldn't the camera take advantage? as of now i can only shoot up to 48fps on my transcend cards. wouldn't a faster card get me to 60fps? or am i wrong about this?

BTW, don't buy transcend cards from amazon right now. i think they somehow got a batch of fake ones. i just bought and returned two of them. both gave me media errors right out of the box. this was when recording standard speed.

abel cine tech has real ones for $45 i think.

Ned is correct. The SDHC cards/adaptors work from the USB part of the EX camera's ExpressCard bus. Sony has capped the USB data transfer rate in its firmware, therefore 48fps is the maximum. So, the Extreme III's will not be able to record any faster than the Ultra II's.

You will however, see a correspoinding speed improvement with Extreme III's when off-loading the video to you computer. If that is worth the extra money then go for the Extreme III's. Cheers.

ahhh yes. i see now.

so regarding the ultra II's, i know they downgraded them from class 6 to class 2. but they are still the same cards? they still work up to 48fps?

I'd personally recommend the Sandisk Ultra II for the 16GB, and the Trancend Class 6 for the 32GB.

What about these from Amazon and newegg?

Transcend 16GB Class 6 $39.49
http://www.amazon.com/Transcend-Mem...m_r_title_featured?ie=UTF8&tag=tellafriend-20

NewEgg has the same thing and same price but has a max of 2 and I think I want 3...
Transcend 16GB Class 6 (Limit 2 per) $39.49
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820208410

I am debating whether or not its worth the premium of getting a 32 gig card that is going to cost nearly the cost of 3 16 gig cards.
Will this work in the HMC150? Tech specs appear to line up.
Transcend 32GB Class 6 $111.00

I got 2 Transcend 16gb from newegg couple weeks ago with the same deal in the retail package and it has been working good (used 3 times each card).

i sent my two bad transcend cards back to amazon. they were spitting "media error" like a mofo. replaced with same cards from abel cine and they work perfect. $45/each. i just shot up an entire card of 48fps 720p with quick starts and stops. no errors. not even when i didn't wait for the light to turn green before hitting record again.. transcend cards rock the house..

what adapter do u have to buy for transend cards?

Lets clear this up. At the moment MxM, MxR and SxSxSDHC are the SAME adaptor with only a different sticker on it (Hoodman get their adaptors directly from MxM). What works with one works with the others. There is no need to worry about detailing things like cardA works with MxM but does it work with SxSxSDHC...

Even though they are not identical, SD card compatibility really hasn't been any different with the other adaptors either. The origonal Kensington adaptor works as well with the same cards as does the Delkin etc

as you could with the Delkin eFilms that worked (there were a few models variants that didn't work). It was the first adaptor you could close the door on with the EX1, the others followed.
